Anyone have a good suggestion for a grace to say before we eat?
Encompassing
-Thanksgiving for food, family, all

  • Thoughts for others who have v little, sad lonely,
  • Joy at Jesus birth and everything that means to us

Not too OTT evangelical. Old skool c of e here!...

Can you Just almost list what you've put there?

Something along the lines off:

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son into the world. Thank You that on this day, we can celebrate his birth and remember what that means.
Thank you that we are able to spend today with family, enjoying this food and time together.
Father we pray for those who are not able to do that today. We pray for those who are lonely or haven't got enough to eat. We pray that they will know your presence Lord and that you'll draw near to them today.
In Jesus name. Amen :)

At school before lunch we always used to say "for what we are about to receive, may the Lord make us truly thankful. Amen." Short and sweet. You could add to that to include your other points.

How about you start with 'as we eat this meal together....'

And then read the blessing about 'may the joy'.....from the page below.

Dear Lord, Please hear the outcry of your children in need, and provide a lighted path for them to find their ways through the darkness. Please empower those of your children that are committed to helping your less fortunate souls, with the resources and energy to lift as many spirits and hearts to their proper well-being.

If everyone at your table is a christian then go ahead. I find it downright rude to be expected to wait until grace has been said before I eat. Some members of my family try this, but I just start eating regardless.
