What have you bought for the stockings?

I am the queen of plastic tat for stockings: it must keep them busy for a while as we don't do main presents until after breakfast, there must be an element of usefulness in at least one component, there must be chocolate coins, a Satsuma and a walnut.

This year I've gone for puzzles:

each one will get (as well as coins, Satsuma, nut)
a rubiks cube (not official)
a rubiks snake (not official)
a chinese puzzle box
a purse
a memory stick
a miniature Baymax nightlight (not official)

then depending on age/likes and dislikes they will get token socks or pants, lipbalm, a colouring book, some pens, some perfume, some post it notes and gel pens, toiletries etc.

This for five girls between 11 and 18. I have tried to keep it below £10 each but have gone over (£15) for a couple of them this year.

What do you put in your stockings?

I always put in socks and pants! Toblerone or some other chocolate, I try and steer clear of toiletries - just don't think they are special enough.
A book, silly straws, dvd, jelly beans always feature for some reason, torch, I have about 10 things per child usually. I pick things up when I see them through out the year. The threads this year about stockings for teenage boys have been my saviour! So useful!

They sound like good stockings!

Mine are 4 (DS) and 2 (DD) and they each have:
Orange
Chocolate coins
Magazine
Annual (outside stocking as won't fit in)
DVD
Pants
Tiny plastic animals
Little matchbox cars
Bubble bath
Small books

That's about all there's room for. They have one bigger present from Father Christmas under the tree which they open at same time. Everything else under the tree is from us and opened after lunch.

I love a stocking thread! Am thinking of doing one for DH so will lurk accordingly for ideas. Grin

I have two ds', 4 and 6 and have almost finished now:

Pants
Socks
Rugby tag belts
Thomas trains
Minecraft mini figures
Special wooden train track pieces
Streamers for their bike handlebars
Light up yoyos
Cheap Home Bargains character DVDs
Novelty cups
Bath lights
Fabric superhero masks

Thinking of getting some small Lego bits and bubble baths to finish off with some chocolate.

I love the new little chocolate Brussels sprouts M&S now sell. And isn't it the LAW that you have to have a Terry's Chocolate Orange in there? Tiger is really good for quality stocking fillers such as tattoo arm sleeves, flamingo cocktails sticks and cute stationery. I adored little notebooks and fancy writing paper as a child and still do. Oh, and my best and most memorable present ever as a child? A huge poster of about 1,000 dinosaurs you could colour in. Bliss!

Dd (4) has

Hair bands.

Ds(2) has
Two multi packs of Thomas Minis

Output where did you get the Thomas multi-packs? I've picked up the display wheel thing for ds1 as he went through a phase of being obsessed with the minis but there is only one included and a lot of his have been thrown out by DH lost.

Well DS (11) has a rather unusual stocking! He s a massive Hornby fan (well trains in general!) and we've recently made a baseboard for his track and painted it.

His stocking is gravel, fences, grass, glue etc and lots of craft bits to make the base a proper one!
Of course I did chuck in a Terry's chocolate orange as well!
