Christmas

Why can't companies be more discreet with their parcels??

Two parcels delivered today to DH and I know both parcels are Christmas presents for me... Both have personalised parcel tape and stamps with company logo/name on, it's not very hard to guess what's in them! I hate when companies do it, it's Christmas present buying time, surely try to be more discreet! DH could have ordered these to his office but he can't think THAT creatively
I like my presents to be surprise, and yes it's bit trivial but we only do one-two presents for each other, nothing expensive. Now I just have to pretend that I'm such a div that I can't possibly say what those parcels contain...

I hear you - I ordered an octonauts octolab for my son, and it came in a big brown box with...you guessed it...octonauts octolab all the way down the side in big black lettering. Luckily he's only in reception so not quite able to read, but if he'd been a year or two older...

I had a parcel delivered from the Disney store. I watched the delivery man put the parcel into a black bin bag before bringing it to the door just incase I had children running around who would notice. I thought it was very forward thinking of him!

You could always get off your arses and go to shops if it's that important.

Oh Disney store are the worst for this! I flagged down the postman yesterday and took delivery of my neighbour's parcel as it was a massive box with Disney pictures all over it and I knew her dd's were home.

The same thing happened to me, I answered the door to the delivery man and got handed a package with Accessorize all over it, obviously it's a gift for me and now I have to pretend I did see it. There is currently a parcel, sitting in the coal bunker but I'm too afraid to go and see what it is, incase it's something I shouldn't see Xmas Grin

I sent a complaint into Amazon. Couple of years back as I order DH a tefal actifry exciting gift I know and they slapped a sticker on the tefal box and delivered it like that. I was seriously pissed off.

I know Amazon are soul sucking low paying bad employers and tax avoiding tossers but I love their plain brown packaging.

John Lewis too. Big plain boxes. Could have anything inside.

Pissed off Tesco have started sticking delivery labels on boxes for click and collect. Now can't collect stuff for the DC if they are with me!! (Which they ALWAYS are)

Well done that Disney store delivery man!

Yep, similar here from Amazon the other day. Son's gaming chair arrived in a massive box with a pretty much full size photo of said chair on the side. Luckily he was upstairs so managed to sneak it in but it's annoying.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark why so damm rude? Confused

Argos delivered three toys through their Fast Track service the other week which all came completely uncovered. No box or bag of any kind as apparently they didn't have any big enough. Luckily it was dark and I caught the van before they got to the door so minor Christmas crisis averted but ridiculous at this time of year.

Also had a Thomas the Tank Engine track from Amazon with the name of the exact toy stamped all over the outer box.

If buying from Amazon, tick the box to say "this order contains a gift" and they make sure nothing is visible on the box. If you don't tick that box then they have no reason to cover it!

To clarify it's not from amazon or any big companies, DH has ordered from independent makers and should have put that in the email to them it's a present. But clearly he didn't think.
But I have been in the situations like this with Disney and Argos before, luckily I've been quick enough to hide the parcels before kids would see them.

ThenLater not everyone has shops at their doorsteps and quite frankly I'm happy to avoid any shop visits all December! I love internet shopping and saving some pennies doing that!!

YANBU, but at least there's packaging!

I ordered a doll's pram for DD - it arrived last Saturday morning (so when she was running around) just in it's normal box. Nothing else at all. Happily, the Yodel delivery man knocked the door first & explained there was no outer packaging so that I could get DD out of the way while I hid it - lucky it was that particular Yodel man!

I don't understand the shops comment TBH. Had I bought the pram from a shop it still would have arrived at my house unwrapped. The only difference is I would have been carrying it rather than a Yodel delivery man Confused.

And in the OP's case - why would she have gone to the shops to buy her own Christmas presents from her DH? Confused
