Hi all,
My sister is a shift worker within the NHS and this year she has to work through Christmas Eve night, Christmas Night and Boxing Night.
She lives 5 hours away from us all (I've got 2 other siblings and we all live within 10 minutes of our parents) and her boyfriend who she lives with is going to see his family (4 hours in a different direction) over Christmas as she said there's no point in him sitting in their house when she's sleeping during the day to get up and go back to work.
We always had lovely Christmas' growing up and I feel bad that she will be coming home to an empty house to sleep and then go back to work again. I know this is a reality for many but just different to what we have always been used to.
She is coming home next weekend for a visit so I want to get her maybe a few small gifts to open on Christmas day / Boxing day just to let her know were thinking of her. (We already do secret santa amongst siblings & partners so I don't want to go overboard) I don't want to make her feel sad either though.
Any tips or suggestions?
We will skype on each of the days when she is able to, I just want her to have something small to make her feel loved.
