Dh wants a Kenwood Chef - help needed!

I haven't a clue about these!

I see one on Amazon for £149 or thereabouts, claiming to save you 54%.
I assume this isn't the newest most up to date one?

Not that he'll care which one it is, he didn't specify a model.

We write each other a list every year & this has cropped up every year. I could stretch to the £149 if it was any use.

Anyone have any advice?

I have one and I love it. That sounds about half the price I paid for mine so a good deal.
You can now look forward to all the yummy things he will be creating!

There are various models, might be a difference in size, capacity or colour, there are definitely variations in what accessories you get (eg food processor, liquidizer as well as badic bowl and beaters), I would check out what he wants to use it for and look at the accessory list.

I think they have different size motors too. Don't get the lower powered model.

IMO Any Kenwood Chef is better than none as long as it's full size and compatible with the accessories. I have one of the old 1960s ones and it revolutionised my baking. Like now, nearly everything comes out OK instead of only occasionally!

If you're on a budget that one looks a good start to me. I guess it's cheaper as it doesn't come with the extra attachments but you don't need them from the word go.

May be no help to you but my local Sainsburys had a Kenwood mixer in yesterday, reduced from £400 to £150. It was a stripy one if that's any help (I studiously ignored it as I am in the process of marketing one of my kidneys to buy a KitchenAid)

I'm in NI Turkey, is that near you? I've a sainsbury about 20 miles away but it would be next weekend before I could make it there. I'll try to post the amazon one here!

That Kenwood Chef isn't bad, but it is the classic one.
I have it for over 5 years and I have never had a problem with it. It has the smaller 800 watt motor (standard, the newer ones have 800-1200 watt motors afaik).

I personally think it is much better than the KitchenAid. I have one of those too - it's only a 300 watt (or so) motor, and it really struggles with certain doughs that the Kenwood has no issues with.

I've got the Prospero because of limited counter space, it's great but has small capacity.

I have the KMix stand mixer (and the handheld KMix but it's heavy)

I use it for cakes, bread (pizza dough anyway ) whisking egg whites.

It has a whisk, a dough hook, a metal K blade and the KBlade with silicone edges which is the one I use most.

I am not up to date, but I have an older one which tends to throw flour around. I have seen newer ones with a clear lid that the beater spindle goes through.

The stainless steel bowls look nice. I got one as an accessory.

If you get one that fits classic accessories, you can often get them slightly used where optimistic people tried them once and put them at the back of the cupboard. I even have a sausage maker I inherited.
