Hanging outside lights

Somebody tell me how to do this?

Please don't laugh at my ignorance....

I have two straight runs of guttering that I want to hang icicle lights from. They are above ground floor windows so not too high. What do I attach the lights to the guttering with? Is it even ok to fix them onto there? I've bought special outdoor battery ones so no need to run a cable anywhere.

And yes I know to some they may be tacky, but we have had a shit year and it will make my DC smile. Plus my STBEH hates outside lights......

Gutter hooks. Amazon has them. Hope you have a lovely, sparkly Christmas. Xmas Smile

Home base or B&Q sell little plastic hooks that you thread the wire through and then snap onto the edge of the guttering.
It's easy to do.

Well I never.

STBEH told me years ago it was far too complicated and would take a whole day so I never asked again.

Gutter hooks. On the shopping list. Thank you very much.

Too eager clearly!

I got my gutter hooks from pound stretcher, think they were £1? Really good, lights held up through all winds at weekend

Where do you plug in outside lights?
Do you have to squish the lead in a window?

I plug them into the hall and the wire fits through side / bottom of doir
