Has anyone tried them? Have tesco points and am thinking of getting them for DD2 (9) and DD3 (6) as fire normally has good parental controls. What is it like for free apps or does it make more sense to go for the kids edition with "free" suscription for kids games and books for first year?

I've bought one each for my 5.5 and 4 year olds for Christmas and I've set them up and had a play with them myself and I'm pretty impressed, fast, responsive and easy to navigate. I got the kids editions ones when they were reduced to 80 pounds last week, mainly because of the guarantee, and there is loads of content on the freetime unlimited which you personalise with your child's age and gender so it suggests stuff for them, you can log into the adult profile, download any other apps you want them to have and then add them to the kids profiles in the settings. I've got an iPad Air so I wasn't expecting to think much of these but I'm really pleased with them so far. Although I did get the 32gb SD cards for them as I know the 8gb memory won't last long.

www.tesco.com/direct/amazon-fire-7-7-tablet-8gb-wifi-black-2015/161-5643.prd?skuId=161-5643
Keep forgetting they are now called amazon fire instead of kindle fire. It's the £49.99 ones.

The tesco one is just the tablet. The amazon £80 deal is with the heavy case, 2yr warranty and suscription for 1st year. Unsure how good the suscription really is, especially as the kids edition would be a bit babyish for DD2.
So its either one tablets with tesco boost and a kids one with amazon or two tescos ones.
