Make up for 14 year old dd

Dd has just started to wear a bit of make up and I thought I'd get her some this year.

I have no idea what brand or what sort of thing to get. She has one mascara and uses a bit of foundation/tinted moisturiser.

Are there any nice sets around that she might like?

My DD (16) likes Bobbi Brown and Mac. I bought her a really good Bobbi Brown make up book I think when she was about 14. She can do fabulous eye brows now.

She is thoroughly ashamed of me.

My daughter mainly owns Rimmel. She'll be getting a Superdrug voucher so she can pick up a few bits and bobs. Superdrug do reasonably priced brands like MUA.

I got my 14 year old niece loads of MUA last year from Superdrug. It's really cheap but looks great.

Cosmetics fairy website does super cheap branded stuff, not a massive selection but my 14 year sister was delighted with a huge box of everything from lip gloss to face glitter for about £15. Might be nice to supplement some 'nice' stuff.

Urban Decay is the brand I wanted to own when I was a teenager, but couldn't afford. Price-wise, it's a bit more expensive than Rimmel and a lot cheaper than MAC (I dream of MAC... )

E.l.f. is nice and very reasonable. I was shocked at the brands in my nieces make up bag. All v nice and stuff I wish I could afford!

No way would I buy a teenager Mac and Bobbi Brown! Way too dear. I'd go for things like bourjous and Rimmel for a teenager.

That's sort of what I was thinking downstairs. I wore Rimmel and Boots 17 when I was a teenager.

Rimmel, Boots 17, and Collection 2000 (does that still exist?) were my brands as a teen.

MUA or sleek make up. Both from superdrug.

Superdrug have a new range called Makeup Revolution and it's incredibly good but reasonably priced. I've read lots of people rave on about how good quality it is. They have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment too.

My 15 year old DD uses MUA or Collection (used to be collection 2000 in my day!) both from Superdrug and prices are £1 to £7 and often on 3 for 2.
Once she's earning she can get a more premium brand.

Why get cheap make up for a teenager? Their skin is usually spotty so you want a good foundation!

Jw I think cheaper make up is better for teenagers because, when you're just starting out with make up, you want to try EVERYTHING! I remember having so many different colours of lipstick, eye shadows, even green mascara at one point! A 14 year old has a long way to go before she figures out what suits her and can invest in dearer cosmetics.

Lily Lolo is good. Both my daughter and I use it. My dd is 13. I think it is better than bare minerals & cheaper. Eye shadow is llovely and can be used to do eyeliner. Dint rate the lipstick or mascara though. They are more into lip gloss or lip balms - baby lips is 'in' here.

I'm really sorry I don't know how to make a link go into one word! I think these benefit sets are lovely- they usually include a mini of different products and if she doesn't use it that much make up it should last a while.

I got my DD a Studio London set from Superdrug last year like this. They do various collections to suit different looks, maybe get her some brushes and some make up remover too.
