Black Friday- what kind of savings on Amazon etc?

Hi, I've never really 'got' the Black Friday thing, but am about to do an Amazon Christmas order, as have noticed that things I've had my eye on have started creeping up in price.

What sort of savings are there to be made? I'm after a few games / books / toys. Does everything go down in price or just select stuff / techie etc? Is it worth waiting or am I likely to pay more by then for my stuff?
Thanks.

It's only on select stuff and you find out the day before what will appear in their Lightning Deal.

Their deals are for the whole week and include books, games, toys.

Amazon wasn't the best discount that I got on Black Friday weekend.

I think can't remember my best bargain was 30% off Tesco clothing and free delivery which I used to buy 3 sets of pyjamas for Christmas Eve at a great price.

I didn't go into a physical shop (and wouldn't after seeing some of last year's sales on Tv)

It's good for deals on Amazon tablets and e readers but not much else.

The first Black Friday on Amazon about 5 years ago was amazing. I got Nintendo Wii for £50 when they were just out and costing £200+

I'm after two basic kindles so hoping for a deal. I'm also hoping that they will reduce the price of Amazon prime again like they did before prime day earlier this year.

You can get 5 kindles and get 1 free ATM

I'm also eager for bargains in Amazon BF.

I agree with mumtoone though, that the 'deals' are not what they used to be.

Sorry, I referenced to wrong poster - I meant SideOrder.

On a positive note, I was pleased with the alarm clock radio I got last year.

I was impressed with tesco a black fri but we live in a rural area and just strolled round the shop at midnight with 3 other people. No punch ups in sight. I was almost disappointed Grin

I got 70% off a Jawbone Up last year from Amazon. It wasn't one of those lightening deals either. I was up through the night bfing a newborn and watched a lot come through. Also got a Wow advent calendar cheap.

Notonthehighstreet was good too. Got some stuff half price and free delivery

You brought back memories of poor souls in pj's ripping coffee makers and unknown branded tv's out of each other's hands.

Ds wants an Xbox one but deals last year were not great. Priced them
Online and in game and then last night very came up trumps with 7%cash back through quidco and £30 off. Plus buy now pay in a year lets me pay it off in a couple of manageable chunks interest free and it came in the cheapest deal so far. Not faffing about at midnight fighting over o e and any good deals always have a nightmare check out imo!

Got 1 Tb Xbox one a game he wanted and an extra wireless controller for £300. Other family are putting £100 towards it plus I can pay it up in chunks over the next few months. Plus cash back from quidco. Same deal was £349 in Game. Smyrna apparently have them
On offer at the moment too - till tomorrow but not sure if that's just local or not as a new store is opening near us tomorrow.

I got loads of toys, like Melissa & Doug wooden toys at 50% off, but to be honest they regularly have deals on that stuff anyway with 30% off so there wasn't THAT much extra to save. Also playmobil zoo for £15, a brio train set for £20 instead of £30 - for how much stress it is, if you see a good price somewhere earlier get it! Also was good for brabantia bins I think, nearly got one
