M&S or waitrose, any recommendations? We have three adults and two 4 year olds this year instead of the usual ten plus so have decided on the beef, really can't be bothered to make my own...

I tried the Morrisons one last year. Half the cost of M&S and it was really good. The pate was lovely. I know Lidl/Aldi do individual portion ones (2 in a pack) for around £7. Suppose it depends what you are looking for

I thought you were in my kitchen...I am making fakey Wellingtons today, have made a mushroom duxelle, seared the beef ....had some lidl beef medallions, so that's cooling and then I'll roll out the pastry and assemble it all in a minute.

Dh is very excited about it! :o It's not something I have made before!

I would also go homemade, you can actually make it the day before and wrap it in cling film until you're ready to cook it so it will actually probably less faff on the day than a turkey. And I think you just convinced me that I will do one too!

Thanks all. So if I go homemade has anyone got a tried and tested recipe?

Mmmm liking the sound of this but have 1yo ds2 and so don't want to cook it from scratch. Also not that bothered about pate. Not sure a 1yo and 4yo would eat BW... What to give them ?

Zen my DC love pate (or meaty sandwiches, as they call it) I wouldn't dismiss it for DC?

scruffy! I thought you were going to say the pastry didn't look great:)

A practice run is a good idea, will try next Sunday.

DTs are 4 and love BW. They love beef in general but particularly love it when it's rare.
