Help me stop buying...

My kids' presents now all sorted. Help me stop buying, I think they have enough in their stockings and enough main presents from us now. We're holding off buying their santa present until nearer the time so we know what they really want. It'll be a toy of around £20-£30 though.

And for those wanting ideas we've got:

Stockings (DD 5 DS 3)
bubbles in an ice cream cone shaped bottle
Pen with four different multi coloured ink
clockwork duck family
Ben & Holly figures
Holographic plastic mug
Bath toy squirter
chocolate
small cinderella mirror (dd)
fireman sam card game (ds)
biscuit tin in shape of their favourite biscuit

DD presents
Glow in the dark planets
Revolting rhymes
Swimming float
Toy fairy
character wall clock
kiddie binoculars

Ds presents
dragon
Fireman Sam annual
Swimming float
Kiddie binoculars
character wall clock

And there will be presents from GPs etc of course.

Also are we being mean? I think this is loads until I read what everyone else gives...

That's fine. Looks like a lovely selection of presents! You just have to be strong and not twitch, which is hard to do as Christmas approaches and others post on the bargain/Amazon Black Friday threads about all the great bargains they have bought!! I did this last year and it got ridiculous. Kids had far too much stuff and I felt so guilty afterwards (bit like you do when you've eaten obscene amounts of chocolate).

Just remember, a bargain is a bargain only if you need it. Some people will give their kids huge sacks full of presents, some will give expensive gifts like iPads, some will give much smaller amounts. Each to their own. I was swayed last year and 'twitched' but I can assure you I will not be swayed this year and am keeping a firm handle on how much I buy/what I buy.

I think you are very wise to hold off buying Santa's presents until nearer the time. Might as well get them something they want/ask for (within reason) rather than having to keep adding to the ever growing pile!

I think that is a lovely list. No need to buy more - just read the threads by people in July about how much hasn't actually been touched.

Don't buy any more. Just don't. (Apart from the Santa presents).

We set a budget. Everything has to be something we know will get played with/worn/used. Presents for presents' sake is just daft and such a waste.

Jumping on board. I looked at DDs stash this weekend. Shes 2 and its overwhelming really so might hold some back for boxing day!
Its stuff for DM ans DMIL and DSis I need now - and they haven't adked for anything yet.
But really do need to stop buying toys. I might have to stop looking at the main bargain thread and FB pages.

I only need duplo for DD (big box of mega bloks minis, cheaper than actual duplo) from Santa and DS2 is getting a rugby kit (he's only a baby) I've sorted my mums present, my DB wants a gift card and my other DB will just get chucked some money. My dads is sorted so just my step-dad and step grandma. My kids don't need any more... They really don't... Sits on hands to stop self going online shopping...
