Best 'little people' type of toy?

My DD will be just over 18 months at Christmas and GPs are already asking what they should get.

I was thinking of something like toot animals/ drivers, fisher price little people, happy land or playmobil123. She already has a big box of duplo she loves and picks out the people, animals and wheels from it.

Can any one help as to Which gives best value and longevity of play? happy land looks great but lots of reviews say it breaks apart easily she is not the most gentle of children haha.

Happyland gets a vote from me - ive bought new and secondhand over the years and its all still going strong. My dd's are 6 and 3- they still play with it almost daily. Favourites here are the house, double decker bus, rocket and train set. The people are a nice size and can get a wide range of characters.

Only downside is the doors come off sometimes but they click back on easily.

Another good buy was the little people Disney Princess castle - each princess says different phrases and songs. Played with loads and lasted v well. We also have the cinderella and ariel carriages which dd's also like Grin

Happyland would get my vote too, I've 3 kids and there's some Happyland stuff thats been passed right down from dd1 to dd3. Dd1 is now 10! Funny enough dd3 (she's 4) dug out some old Happyland figures to put in her Sylvanian families house. She really liked Happyland because it was good in the bath as well. The fairy ones were a big hit.

Seems happyland is very popular. I will suggest it my mum as she likes to go to the shops rather than buy online.

We have toot toot animals treehouse which is a hit here but there's no flashing lights or noises, however the animals play music and sing.. The animals are really lovely, but only 1 animal comes with the treehouse.. We bought another pack of 3 to go with it.
It is played with a lot.

We have Playmobil and it's also a hit, but it's rather 'plain'.

We used to have more happyland stuff for my older girls when they were little... But I found it expensive and the figures didn't do anything.
I love the toot toot animals as they are chat and sing away.., I would buy the animal safari park for Xmas for my 2 yr old boy but he's already got the train station and parking tower and cars, so it would be toot toot over kill.. But having had all happyland Playmobil and toot toot.. Toot toot wins here for all 4 of my kids (10,7,4 and 2) and me!

Sorry, I wanted to add that vtech keep on bringing out more toot toot animal sets every few months there's another set you can add to your collection.. I like that versatility and therefore easy for grandparents to 'add to.'

My 22 month old loves Happyland. We've just put her toot toot animal treehouse away as she never played with it and the noise was so bloody irritating

Happyland has been a huge hit with my DD. She got a house for Christmas at 21 months and we've added to the collection at birthdays and Christmas since. She's 3.5 now and plays with it almost everyday. NEVER pay full price for it, from time to time they sell the bigger stuff half price! My son loves his Toot Toot cars (he's 21 months now), and loves rolling them down the Toot Toot ramp!

We love happyland. Two kids tried to break it so far and has survived for number three to have a go when it arrives.
