Any first time parents out there? What have you brought your little ones for Xmas this year?

Not much to be honest. Just a few toys. He'll be spoilt rotten by my lovely in laws and we'll get him some more in the sale. We've bought him a few bits recently that could have been christmas presents but as he has no idea what the day is we just gave them to him.

Same as captain, already given toys which were intended as presents. DS is three months. So no presents from us on Christmas day because it seems pointless. Going to put some money in his account though.

DS is five months and we've bought him a nice stocking he'll hopefully use every year. Have some little bits (bells and a dangly toy and a rattle) to go in it but mostly to watch him be astounded as we take them out. Things going in and out of bags is his 'thing' at the moment. Getting him anything else seems a bit silly. My Mum on the other hand has bought him items which are currently filling two sizeable bin liners. Confused I have no idea what's in there and no idea where it's going to go in our tiny flat!!! And MIL has said she's got him nothing, as it would be a waste, so between us I think we've covered the whole range of first-Christmas attitudes!

I have a newborn and have got him a santa outfit to wear Christmas Day, a personalised cd with stories etc and joint sand pit and slide with his brother (only 14 months old)

As we have so many toys appropriate for baby, we didn't see the point. Wnt get much use out of the slide yet (either of them) but will in years to come

My daughter will be one just after Christmas, so she must be one of the oldest "first christmas" babies.

She has a toot toot train set and an activity table, and a stocking with a few little bits - hide and squeak eggs, a cuddly dog and frozen on DVD (more because I want to watch it, but I thought it might be a nice tradition to get a Disney film every year.

DS2 is 12 weeks.

He'll receive:
Bumbo seat with tray
3 baby books
A Christmas gingerbread man teddy and blanket set

Maybe a few little chew toys to make it look more, or DS1 who's 7, will question why has Santa not got DS2 anything.

My 6 week old is getting a mobile for her big cot, a Linky Toy, a Sophie la Girafe, small rag Doll and a board book. The DS'S would be outraged if Father Christmas didn't bring their adored new sister anything Grin

Feel really mean now but I don't recall getting my then 4 month old much at all last year-he was spoilt rotten by family tho. This year we're making more of an effort but trying not to go overboard because a. He doesn't know whats coming and b. He really does have almost everything he needs/wants already.

I seem to have gone a bit overboard compared to everyone else who has posted!

For her stocking I have socks, soft leather shoes, maracas, a book, small wooden caterpillar, wooden pull along duck, flashing ball,3rd and Bird Christmas DVD,wooden pop up toy and a Clementine (plus some chocolate coins more for traditions sake though she will probably have a couple).

Then her main present from us is a toy kitchen, with pots and pans, baking set and utensils.

I've also bought aDuplo train, Brio train set, more books, snow globe, latches board, dolphin bath toys and a talking dog.

DD will be one just after Christmas so I might decide to hold some of it back until then, as it seems a lot written down and will probably seem even more once wrapped! As her birthday is so soon after I am hoping not to buy toys in between now and Christmas next year (need to get the next stage up cat seat though) and I am hoping a lot of it will last longer than a year. I am just glad that she won't remember as it means when I cut down on gifts next year she won't have anything to compare it too. I know it is definitely more for me than her this year.

I'm three days overdue with No. 2 so we're still waiting to see if this will be a 'baby's first Christmas'. I've got a few little things set aside to go in a stocking if necessary (cardigan, hat, a few Lamaze-type toys), but that's it. The stocking is more for 3yo DS's benefit than the baby's - otherwise he won't understand why he has one and the baby hasn't.

DS is 11 months and I've bought quite a bit, however mostly because he's ready for some new toys as his seem too babyish now.

  • Books (some 'That's Not My' books and some gorgeous alphabet and Pantone colour books)
  • Pop up frog
  • Wooden kitchen that doubles as a walker
  • Extra wooden saucepans and spoons for banging
  • Fisher Price telephone
  • Uncle Goose wooden blocks in a little pull along cart
  • Happy Hopperz cow
  • Wonderland wooden sound blocks

Plus he will have gifts from the rest of the family although I think everyone has been sensible and not gone overboard.

DS is 3 months (second child)
He will be getting:

A stocking containing...
Bath book, linking rings, face flannel, small wooden toys.

A leap pad table (not brand new)
A toot toot drivers train station set
Pop up ball pit & balls

These are things we would probably get throughout the year before his birthday for him to play with so essentially just getting them in advance.

As he's our second child (DD is 5) we couldn't get 'nothing' as 1. We wouldn't want to give him nothing & 2. It wouldn't make sense to DD as to why Santa (& us) left DS out.

We haven't gone over board. (Which we did with dd's 1st Christmas) just bought wisely for things he will need in future.

I imagine he will be spoiled by family though.

DS is 15wks.

Big present from DP & me: Playpen/travel cot (he doesn't need it just yet, but it had 40% off, so we thought we might as well buy him one in advance. It'll come in handy as somewhere to keep his toys until he's ready to use it)

From Father Christmas:
3x hand puppet books
Babygro's
A couple of outfits to grow into
Bibs & scratch mittens

From MIL:
Silver keepsake box

From DM:
Big teddy bear

TBH if it wasn't for the benefit of his big sister (8) who'd be a bit Hmm if FC didn't bring her little brother any presents (Wink), he wouldn't be getting very much at all - he got so many presents when he was born, he's still not got around to wearing/playing with all of them.

DS is 10mo. I'm sooo excited about his first Christmas.

I got him a rocking triceratops (like a rocking horse, but a triceratops)
For his stocking
3 small wooden cars
A toy car key
Some stickers for his walls
A board book
A bath toy
Some other odds and ends from Tiger

He's got 10 aunts or uncles and until 2 days ago he didn't have any cousins ... So he'll probably get lots from other people too. He's going to be one spoiled baby (for now, I'll obviously dial it back as the years go by).

He got a bumbo today from his nanny and his other nanny has gone mental with stuff for him Confused

DS is 4 months and is getting

-a soft cuddly rabbit (which I'm hoping will become his special soft toy :-) )
-the Night Before Christmas book, which we've written in the front of
-a stormtrooper rubber duck
-Sophie the Giraffe teething toy
-couple of other bath toys
-a crinkly, fabric book

I also recently bought him a secondhand Bumbo and jumperoo. I wasn't really thinking of them as Christmas presents though, so I haven't wrapped them up.

My little girl will be nearly 9 months.
Haven't got her too much. Mainly clothes. We have also bought her a walker and some books. The tree has already got a load of presents for her from family and friends.
She'll probably enjoy the wrapping g paper more than the gifts! Grin
