I am looking forward to giving people their presents, and I know I'll enjoy the time with family and friends... just feel a bit blah. It's not even pressure of entertaining or providing or anything, just been ill and on new ADs too which seem to be making me a bit numb.

This post has no purpose really, just... Meh

I'm the same. Usually a huge Christmas nut, planning decorative theme from about July, tree up first of dec and so on and so forth. But this year? I've not even got a tree yet.

Not sure why, just not feeling it this year.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding Thu 18-Dec-14 07:54:57

We haven't put the tree up either. It's unusual this year as we aren't home for Xmas (I don't think that's why I'm feeling weird though, as I am really excited about spending the day with my dear friends and we will have a great time playing games etc) but we will still do the tree as we will have our other Xmas with DSCs after (which again I'm looking forward to)

Our house is a total tip though, worse than ever, maybe that's it - feel like I've failed again.

I'm feeling exactly the same.

Normally really into the festive spirit but this year I actually feel that I can't wait for Christmas to be over.

I just feel...blah grin

Wow. Wow. I thought it was just me. I could have written danske's post. I might show this thread to DP who views my new indifference with a mixture of amusement and concern.

I love christmas but I also feel the same. The weather's gloomy, skint, but hey-ho I finish work today! ! Turkey will come out of the freezer sunday evening, santa dash on sunday so I hope I'll feel festive by then!

schmeegle Thu 18-Dec-14 09:08:24

I'm just the same.

I was so full of beans in November. Had all my presents bought really early and was very excited about planning a lovely menu.

In the last few weeks though my wonderful DM has been sent for tests which won't be complete until mid January so everything feels like it's up in the air. I had been hoping she would get the all clear before Christmas. That's not going to happen now.

Feel very anxious and blue about this but I've decided I really need to pull up my socks from today onwards to make sure we all have a super Christmas smile

Take care folks.

I think I peaked too soon, as all shopping down and mostly wrapped by 1st December. Now, DH'S shifts have changed so have moved 'Christmas Day' to Sunday, thought we were having a fun day tomorrow, buts that now Christmas Eve and I'm just bored of it all. DD'S first Christmas so I was soo keen, but now she's teething and we aren't getting any sleep, and I've just agreed when I'm going back to work and I don't want to. sad

I feel the same op, I have been floored by some minor medical worries that have reared their heads and now I am worried....

I am not feeling it either, but am determined to try for my DD's....I am feeling anxious about appts (medical) and anxious about some long car journeys we need to do....

OP AS For tidying your house, I am the same, I managed the living room, deeper clean a few weeks ago...but rest of house is messy.

That is one area you have control! If you can set a timer, and say right, twenty mins on this area. when beep goes, I stop.

I find this much more motivating and better than starting at horrid piles and mess....set a target....timer on....go and do it! You will feel much better after!

Tree is here..haven't decorated it yet. I'm going g away on my own tomorrow for 4 days so it may or may not be done by the time I return.

ClashCityRocker Thu 18-Dec-14 20:15:33

I think it's one of them that the more you analyse why you aren't feeling Christmassy, the less Christmassy you will feel.

That said, I'm hoping that I will start feeling a bit more festive soon - just feel I haven't really been able to enjoy the run up so far - super busy at work (exceptionally so), a rotten stinking cold and too much running around.

However, I am confident that come Monday when I leave for the christmas break, I shall start feeling festive.

lucysmam Thu 18-Dec-14 20:19:51

Meh just about covers it here too! I've joined in with everything & done everything what we usually do with the girls, even been to Panto already but I'm not feeling it either sad

I love this time of year usually as well but everything's just blah atm confused

melmo26 Thu 18-Dec-14 20:23:07

I am feeling the exact same and I don't know why. I have never felt this way at Christmas.

I too feel numb. Nothing there. We have 4 dds aged 6 5 3 and 1. They are all so excited but I'm not feeling it.

Hopefully the joy I normally feel will come back.

Dolallytats Thu 18-Dec-14 21:00:55

I feel the same, although DH doesn't believe it! I am having a really tough time with anxiety and agoraphobia and really just want to hide in bed.

We have my stepson and my daughter's BF round this year and really I just want to tell everyone to go away. I'd feel better if it was just me, DH, DD's and DS.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO Thu 18-Dec-14 21:07:57

I think I will start feeling festive if DH makes a special gravy confused we have a family shop at the weekend confused and I am pretty much all sorted.

I am def someone who likes to do things with someone and chat and mull over things....I think me doing all the prep alone with the added stress of a toddler its whats making me feel un festive.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO Thu 18-Dec-14 21:08:30

I am also feeling anxiety that we wont get broken in too before xmas day and all presents tkane"

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO Thu 18-Dec-14 21:09:48

You sounded so enthusiastic a while ago!

Is the day of the week xmas falls on? is it the lack of inspiring decs round?

Hassled Thu 18-Dec-14 21:10:48

I'm the same - I need some bloody Christmas spirit and I need it now. I'm just tired and stressed and obsessing over the details which won't actually matter, I know. It's one day, FFS.

I say this every year but this time I mean it - next year there will be no visiting relatives. None. No-one.

lucysmam Thu 18-Dec-14 21:11:56

Not sure Elf, just feeling very meh this week. It'll pass by the time we get to the weekend hopefully & me and the girls can do some bits together.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO Thu 18-Dec-14 21:16:09

I am hoping to see paddington this weekend its supposed to be very funny am hoping it wil cheer me up...

lucysmam Thu 18-Dec-14 21:19:51
