Football shirt - can anyone help me out?

For a number of reasons - illness, broken car, MIL being in hospital - none huge on their own, just taking up time and energy, DH and I are really behind on Christmas. We spent the weekend charging about and internet shopping and thankfully things feel more in control now [happy].

However, we don't have the one thing DS really wants (but hasn't asked for because we've always said it was too expensive) - a 'proper' football shirt. We were going to order one from abroad six weeks ago because they seemed significantly cheaper than ones from the UK (like half price!), however, that option is obviously out now because of lack of time.

So, does anyone on here have a recent-ish Messi/Neymar football shirt (aged around 9) they could pass on to me? I suspect I'm not allowed to offer cash on the board, so am happy to respond via PM. I am sure it is a bit risky this way, but I really am desperate! New ones look to be over £50 and I was hoping to spend about half of that.

Anyone's DS's grown out of their shirt recently??

gymboy thanks for that. It was a possibility, but £35 plus £10 for letters plus £5 delivery is £50, so out of our budget I'm afraid. I really do appreciate you taking to time to help though. It is shocking how expensive these things are - are they spun from gold or something??

does it have to have the name? my son bought himself this shirt in the shop with his birthday money-yes it was 35 quid which i think is scandalous for what is essentially a nylon t shirt, but he wears it and wears it and wears .

Thanks again gymboy. If it comes to it, I think that's what we'll do. He would be so happy to get a shirt anyway I suppose, as we have spent so long saying how expensive they are! I just don't want him excitedly turning it over on Christmas morning and being disappointed that there isn't a name on the back. First world problem

Maybe if he gets any Christmas money, he could get the name done? Where can you take a shirt to do that do you know?

Lots of sports shops can add a name to the back at a later date (football nation if in Edinburgh!) We have previously bought the shirt blank and he used birthday money to get a name on it.

Cross messages! We did a similar t-shirt for his birthday, which he liked, but it is the proper kit he really wants. I just don't get, considering how expensive they are, how so many kids have them .
He's a good kid though, doesn't really ask for stuff, so it would be good to get him something he'll really appreciate.

Ah, thanks Maroonie. This is sounding like a plan . I will google local sports shops. I'll give it till tomorrow, and if no-one else comes up with a named shirt, I'll go with the un-named shirt plus name of naming shop as his pressie .

the year ds got a man united top with a name on the back, it was his big main present.i really really struggled with the idea of spending so much money on a top but in the end dh pointed out that he would adore it and he did. and like barcelona top-it gets worn all the time. luckily we could afford it that year but we couldn't do it every year like some people do-bonkers!
