Board games for small children?

We're starting to put together our own family Christmas traditions, and one I'd really like is no TV! I vaguely remember we used to play board games and cards when I was a kid once we were getting bored of our presents.

Thing is, DD is 2.9. She is very quiet and lives to join in with the grown ups so does anyone know whether there are any board games or family games we could play? She's fairly bright but not gifted!

Hungry Hippos' though that's not really quiet the way we play it in my house!

A lot of the orchard games are quite good to play at that age, we have shopping list, monster bingo and party party party (DDs are 3&5) there are loads to choose from as well. Or you could always go for hungry hippos or pop up pirate which are easy for a 2 year old to play

Mousie Mousie is really fun for young children (also adults :D) and is very simple. Frustration or other ludo-style games if she can count up to six? Pick Up Sticks is also good for little fingers. Happy Families. Dominoes.

Oh I missed that she is 2.9! I thought she was about 4 for some reason! Mousie Mousie though :D

Not a board game, but Snap played with matching picture cards rather than numbers.

Tummy ache by orchard games was played endlessly in our house. Only takes about 10-15 minutes for someone to win so you can have as many (or as few) games as you like, and it's simple and funny to play. I've bought bingo this year (with a wheely thing) and now I'll have to find some prizes.

ds2 likes tumbling monkeys/alien freefall type games, jenga, some simple Orchard toys like the flower pot game. He is getting pop up pirate for Christmas. He can't yet properly join in traditional board and dice but is quite happy to team up with one of the adults and throw the dice and help count with the counter.

Ds, 2.8, loves lotto, the matching game. He also likes Frustration but doesn't really play it properly but he makes a good start!

We are a real board gaming family. The best game I've found to get the youngest involved too is called who knows whose nose. It's an elc one. Age 2 is perfect for it.
Orchard games are very good for age 3/4 upwards

Lego shave the sheep. May be a little older but I know it was one of the first games we all enjoyed

Charades, and second the Orchard Toys suggestions - our dc liked the ark card matching game, Tummy Ache, Pop to the Shops, Party party party. Uno is good, plus cards. Hedbandz?

She can count to 10 but isn't very reliable yet, and she only started talking recently, but pop up pirate would be good - I remember it! And I just saw an advert for Buckaroo.

orchard games are certainly good. We have not had a bad one yet and we have had loads. We started with red dog blue dog which does not need any reading or numbers...but does need colour recognition..The Noah's ark one was also a big favourite.

By Orchard Games - Counting Ladybirds/Cupcake game are popular in our house.
We also have Disney Princess Dominoes.
Don't have this GALT game but have read good reviews. We have a similar one and both my DDs (2.9 and 5) love it.
