He has (and loved) The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad (loved to a lesser extent), watched a bit of Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, he also loved the Cohen Brothers box set, and has many others, but I usually get him one for Christmas and hasn't mentioned one for a while so am clueless!
He doesn't like sci-fi or those action blockbuster type films.

Sons of anarchy
True detective (only watched first season - but brilliant)
Walking dead
Dexter
or just get him Netflix so he can choose!

I've bought OH utopia, an idiot abroad and also IT crowd this year.

He also watches walking dead and true detectives as well as a million crappy sci fi tv shows.

We already have Netflix!
But when I fancy watching something, there's rarely anything I ever want to watch on there.
I will have a look at the suggestions.
However he started watching Game Of Thrones and didn't like it so that's out already.
Thanks for the ideas :)

There are only 2 series of True Detective?
That's all that's available to buy, but are they still making them?
He's the kind of man that will want to watch it all back to back, not wait for years. It looks right up his street though.

Misfits was really good a couple of years ago.
We watched The 100 recently (don't know if there's a Boxset yet) and that was really good.

Band of Brothers is so, so good. A few years old now but as it's set during WW2 it won't date.

Or Walking Dead gripping and brilliant although gory the story lines are much stronger than just blood and guts.

Thanks everybody, loads of ideas here.
I think he has seen house of cards and homeland, but he hasn't said anything about getting them. He usually drops hints but he hasn't this year!
I'm going to go back And read through the suggestions.
The other requirement should have been that it needs to be the complete set of series as he likes to watch it all back to back! He's a PITA Xmas Grin

My favourite ever box set is Boardwalk Empire, I loved everything about it. I could watch it again and again. Of course it helps if you like gangster type dramas and don't mind a bit of violence.
