In our house the main present was from Santa the rest were from my parents. The risk with everything coming from Santa is there will come a point they'll wonder why you don't buy any presents for them

In our house, Santa brings the sack of presents (mostly practical stuff, a few toys and up to three requests from the DC). Santa generally has a spending limit of about £10 per item.

We then give 5 presents under the tree. This includes the big present from us.

Santa just brings the main gift off the list. Actual people buy the rest. No stocking here either. Everything just appears under the tree on Christmas Eve nothing there before we hide it all.

We have always down played santa - yes we put out food and sprinke reindeer dust- but we don't do all the " santa's watching, be good" stuff. They do love the excitment of the stocking - i just don't think that everything subsequently needs to be from santa- works well for us!
