Or do I? Do you think people will notice if they don't get one from me this year?

I'm going to give it a shot anyhow. 15 minutes worth. If you see back here before 8pm shoo me away.

I hate writing cards but I feel bad as I still get them. I haven't written one yet. I'll give you mine when you're done Grin

One of these days I'm going to do what my sister does.

She buys packs of cards of all the same design and just signs them all "From x and y and family". She has a sheet of preprinted address labels that she peels off and sticks to the envelope. The whole job takes less than 30 minutes. Nobody has ever complained about it and most of the family admire her genius.

Btw Who is Heather? She's in my address book (it's written in order of first names). I have no idea who she is. Does she need a card?

I'm going to keep going. Who knows when I might get the vague inclination again....

Don't you hate it when you can't remember the names of people's children?!

OP posts:
sunnyfrostyday · 04/12/2014 20:11

That's where you write "and family..."

RustyBear · 04/12/2014 20:13

Ok, I googled Heather to see if I could help and found this....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2014 20:18

Bugger. I've run out of cards. Wonder if I have any in the loft? Because otherwise there's a danger that every one after 's' may not get one.

I have done half of mine. I think that'll do TBH. So anyone from 'M' onwards in my address book have a lovely Christmas!

MimsyBorogroves · 04/12/2014 20:50

I don't believe in Christmas cards.

I mean, I accept that they exist because I've seen them, but I can't be arsed to write the damn things. But DH demands that we must because it's important that we are polite to people that we never speak to at any other point in the year, and then spends all of christmas obsessing if we receive one from someone we haven't sent one to, and worries whether we should send one and hope they think it's been late to be delivered, or if they'll realise we've only done it because we'd forgotten they existed until we received their card.

Life's too short. Eat a mince pie or seven instead.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 04/12/2014 20:51

I haven't even bought mine yet Xmas Grin

You need to do it with carols playing, mulled wine and warmed mince pies. It's the only way!!

Sparklingbrook · 04/12/2014 20:52

I sometimes write one as I receive one. Make sure I don't send one to someone who isn't sending one to me. Grin

I've not sent any cards at all for the past two Christmas. Except for a special one for my mum and one for my nan.
Everyone else got told the year before I was stopping sending them and not to be offended.
It's very liberating and no one has minded.

Bartlebee · 04/12/2014 20:55

Don't bother!

I have started a local revolution with non card sending.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2014 22:42

Well done for those who have managed to stop - it's very eco!

Good approach sparkling. If you feel like it, next year you could do the other half of the alphabet instead!

Your poor dh mimsy! Once it's Christmas Eve I've given up my angst. The thing is, I never notice who hasn't given me a card. I just rather like the decoration effect.
