postage dates for christmas

On the first thread of Reastie my true love bought for me,
A Chinese frozen dress
Two furry throws
Three Womdee scarves
Four finger lights
Five DVDs
Six fox shaped bags
Seven Christmas mugs
Eight sets of PJs
Nine orchard games
Ten tassimos
Eleven book people deals
Twelve flashing rings (minus 11)

I’ve tried to include some of the popular stuff from last year as well as some of the new bits. I may well have missed some important bits, so please let me know if that’s the case.

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn s recipe for choc truffles

200g Philadelphia
350g icing sugar
500g dark chocolate (I use the cheap stuff from Aldi or Asda)

Melt the chocolate then add to the Philly and icing sugar. Add flavouring (1 teaspoon for vanilla, 2 for liqueur)
Leave to set for a little while

Warning from Ialreadytoldyou - Loom bands and loom band charms from Asia have been tested and have been carrying a dangerous level of carcinogenics. It's quite worrying tbh, the report says it can get into the body through the skin when worn, especially if the wearer is sweating and also if anything is put in the mouth. Apparently you wouldn't know until the wearer has children and they have defects. article here

neddle Thu 04-Dec-14 19:55:37

Where is everyone? fgrin

zipzap Thu 04-Dec-14 19:55:39

Ainsburys has started to discount some of it's Christmas stuff (decorations, smelly things like candles, decorations in the household area as well as the seasonal aisle, etc)- seems to be around 25-50% off, some bits marked down twice.

zipzap Thu 04-Dec-14 19:58:18

Ainsburys? Where's autocorrect when you need it? blush

That would be Sainsburys obviously!

BetweenTwoLungs Thu 04-Dec-14 20:05:34

Right guys I'm stuck. Two of my most expensive items are just not presenting themselves as a bargain to me sad

I'm after a Go Pro camera (the £100 one) and some form of Star Wars lego (preferably AT-AT) but both are really expensive and I can't find any deals.

Very/Isme can't find my address for some reason, so won't let me open a credit account and use the £30 off code. Are there any deals at all that people know of for anywhere that might sell these items? Getting desperate now!

supermariossister Thu 04-Dec-14 20:07:17

argh royal mail have lost a parcel went to pick it up and they couldn't find it, admitted they had lost it and took details to get in touch if they find it only thing is I'm not sure what it was! as I've got four things due so not sure what to do now

NorksEnormous Thu 04-Dec-14 20:07:54

Anyone know what the next boots star gift will be?

AuntieMaggie Thu 04-Dec-14 20:14:25

Anyone seen any battery operated tea light things?

Sleepstarved Thu 04-Dec-14 20:24:36

I am all done and dusted, hurray.
But now my DM wants to know what to buy my DDs. I have suggested scooters but am not sure.
1 - the mini micro scooters are quite expensive
2 - DD1 has special needs and although very interested in them would find it difficult to coordinate the action (but it would be really good for her if she could) and DD2 is 20months (but absolutely must have whatever DD1 has and is much better coordinated).
With one scooter there'd be a massive fight but not sure if DD1's would ever actually get used (she can't pedal a trike).

PamelaEwing Thu 04-Dec-14 20:26:06

I saw battery operated tealights in Ikea auntie maggie

waithorse Thu 04-Dec-14 20:30:04

Lakeland also sell the tealights.

Excited by new thread. fgrin

PamelaEwing Thu 04-Dec-14 20:36:35

From next Thursday Aldi will apparently have various Frozen, batman, Spider-man & Sofia Onesies for £6.99, Pyjamas for £4.99, Dressing Gowns for £6.99 and 3 X Socks for £2.49.

zipzap Thu 04-Dec-14 20:37:56

AuntMaggie Costco had battery operated tealights and also bigger candles - and not only were they battery operated but they were remote control too fgrin which struck me as a very first world thing

Bet you could have lots of fun with them if people didn't know they were operated by a remote control... [evil festive grin]

zipzap Thu 04-Dec-14 20:43:57

If anyone's giving a cake pop maker of any sort, they've got cake pop sticks in Poundland at 50 for £1 which is the cheapest by a long way that I've found them on the high street.

They're part of a Jane Asher baking range that also includes everything from tins and paper cases, cake boards, palette knife, whisk, chocolate moulds, nice little gratin dishes, to cake mixes, frosting and cake decorations - all for a pound each obviously. But if anyone's making up a baking type hamper or wants some kids cooking stuff that looks reasonable quality whilst being cheap, it's definitely worth investigating!

wanders off to make 200 marshmallow olaf snowmen, on the aforementioned cake pop sticks, for the school christmas fayre tomorrow instead of sitting here doing more bargain hunting

RJnomore Thu 04-Dec-14 21:01:10

Norks Soap of Glory £29 RRP £60 apparently everyone goes wild for soap of glory

goes live 12th December

SouthernOne Thu 04-Dec-14 21:22:12

Matalan do battery operated tealights too

Sleepstarved Thu 04-Dec-14 21:25:21

I got caught up in the Soap and Glory thing last year and bought one (with points). I was distinctly disappointed.
The cleanser hurt my eyes and didn't remove make-up and the thick body cream so was thick it wouldn't come out of the dispenser. Never used the scrub (does anyone ever use those?) and only just finished the shower cream, that was ok. The bag it came in was rubbish as it only held its shape with the cardboard box still inside it.
