Have posted in travel but thought some of my "colleagues" on the Christmas thread may have been or may even live there ?

I am going next week just for the day with DH, DS 7 & our friends who have DS 6. I have been several times before as have adults & children have been twice befoe but none of us in December.

Is there anything magical/Christmassy that anyone can recommend ?
TIA

you should definitely go to the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps shops. Their decorations are always lovely and remain lit up even when the shops are closed if you don't feel like braving the shopping crowds (there will still be a lot of people though, so be warned). If you do go during opening hours, pop into the main Galeries Lafayette shop to see the decorations, they are absolutely stunning. I haven't seen the Printemps decorations this year so I don't know what they are like.

There's a skating rink in front of the Hôtel de Ville but it doesn't open until December 19th so that might be a bit too late for you.

There'll probably be any number of Christmas markets scattered around the city but they are usually quite naff. The food can be good though.

There's a big wheel at Place de la Concorde, next to the giant Christmas tree.

If you can read French, you can take a look at city hall's Christmas event guide here: quefaire.paris.fr/noel

Hope you enjoy your trip here
