Heeeelp! I haven't done any xmas shopping for the dds yet but have time this morning to order presents online / Amazon. Things have been really hectic recently and I am stuck for ideas. Please may I ask you to share your top toy hits for a two and a five year old?

Thanks Thanks Brew

Do you have main presents planned?

No presents planned yet Blush !!!! Current interests are camping, forest, dressing up, we only have duplo no lego yet. Also both dds like playing with mini barbies... But loathed to have a huge barbie invasion... We have a dolls house which gets occasionally played with. Play boil pirate ship and sylvanian shave been largely ignored recently. We have plenty of dolls so no need there either.

I thought

  • toy wooden sweets
  • duplo cupcake set for dd (2)

We haven't tried Hama beads yet....

See I'm stuck Smile.

My dds are 5 and 3, this year my 5 year old has asked for a cayla doll, shopkins stuff (her new obsession after finding videos on YouTube) and rapunzel lego. She really likes drawing and craft sets and someone mentioned djeco sets on another thread so I'm going to have a proper look at those today too.

My 3 year old has asked for play doh, jake duplo and a lambie toy that you can draw on. She also loves her little people disney princess castle she got last year, she plays with this every day.

If you're looking for ideas for bigger gifts then what about a dolls house, kitchen, market stall, puppet theatre or art easel? They would all make a nice joint gift for your girls too.

What about a scooter each if you have the budget? Micro for 2 yr old and maxi for five year old. Then add some accessories. Mine are having scooter headz and wheel whizzers.
Other ideas:
Lego Junior
Melissa and Doug cupcake set
Watercolor paint sets (paint without the mess)
Sticker books (both my girls have the Create your own ones; zoo and home sweet home)
Sylvanian families
Djeco jigsaws (check out website fabulouslyfrench.co.uk which have some amazing high quality art sets and toys)
Schleich animals

I am getting my 6 & 2 yo DDs a couple of sets of Magna tiles - the reviews are awesome and I like the fact they can play together with them and there is not a million tiny pieces to clean up/get lost. Good for different ages.

www.amazon.co.uk/Magna-Tiles-Clear-Colors-Piece-Set/dp/B0093LSWIE?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Apart from that the DDs are getting some playmobil each, couple of board games, craft sets such as sticky mosaic, simple sewing kit, books, Frozen soft dolls, and some small dressing up bits.

The melissa and doug ice cream set it good for playfood or GLT have lovely play food/sweets etc.

Paint your own playhouse - foldable cardboard so can be put away. Comes in different shapes options (eg my DC1 is getting a rocket shaped one) - loads of places do them this year

What a in the house tent/teepee? There's different themed and designs you can get? Also what about a dressing up treasure box with random glittery bits to dress up in with inside. A DVD or two...selection box a colouring book? ...I think maybe I've written what I want for Christmas lol

Lottie dolls? Like Barbie but a better size/message.

Hama beads big hit with both my 5 yr old & dextrous 3 yr old too.

Lego, board games to play together, second idea of puppet theatre for shows they can put on.

I bought the Play Mobile 123 zoo for my 16 month old, I think it's going to be a big hit! Nice chunky pieces for little hands to hold! xxx

There is a really sweet Playmobil camping set on offer at the moment on Amazon at £8.80 - Summer Fun 5435 Family with Camping Tent.

I think there might be some foresty-type sets on offer too (definitely a couple of horsey ones).

Thank you! I have just ordered the magna tiles, which look fab, as well as a Hama beads set, duplo cakes, and the post office! I like the Lottie dolls a lot but they are pricey so will get a coupes of the smaller Barbie 'sisters'.

Great choice with the Magnatiles! We got our first set three years ago when ds was 6 and dd 3, have added several sets since and they continue to see lots of use now at 9 and 6! All kids that come here are drawn to them, we keep them in an open basket in the living room.

(Although with over 400 I think we have reached our limit now, so there won't be any more coming in this Christmas...)
