DP has taken up running in his lunch breaks. I'm keen to encourage him, it's a great way to keep fit! However, I'm a wheelchair user, I have fuck all idea what would be good to get for him! He does love gadgets, budget of ~£100, all suggestions welcome!

Howies running leggings my all time faves
Merino top (also Howies)
Merino socks (Pearl Izumi, can get them from Amazon)
Garmin GPS watch thingy
Heart Rate Monitor
Waterproof, breathable jacket
Wind proof gilet
Voucher to get properly fitted trainers
hydration pack/belt
Entry into a half marathon ???

Oo, leggings might work, he's already complaining of chafing! Would the larger size fit a 6' bloke?!

He's a hyperchondriac so heart rate monitor is out!

My DH is 6'2" and is a Large in Howies. I think they'd be fine on a 6' bloke.

Or a Garmin definitely

Garmin forerunner 15. (gps watchy thing)
Running gloves.
Water bottle
Subscription to some kind of running mag.
Might be difficult to get clothes for him as they're a bit of a personal choice fit wise.
High vis flashing arm bands.

Thanks smile I know he's borrowed a Garmin, he's been very impressed with it, just need to be sure it's a loan, not a gift!

Leggings sound great too! Didn't know running gloves was a thing confused

Running gloves are a thing! Light enough not to get too hot, but keep icy chill off. Bright colour. Often with a little pocket for a key.

Bearsinmotion Sun 30-Nov-14 22:22:49

Right, off to google!

Gloves are great, really nice when it's freezing! Running hat as well.

Maybe headlight/torch if running at night/unlit conditions. (I did a night run yesterday and they both came in handy when I got lost).

These might be a good stocking filler if he ever runs at night - Led armbands

My DH is a runner and so this is the type of thing I would go for:

Running socks/gloves
Shorts/running leggings (Decathlon great for this sort of stuff)
small portable radio (smartphone size) with running headphones - my DH likes to listen to the radio as opposed to music when he's running.
Running watch
A runners water bottle (shaped so you can hold it easily whilst running

Aldi will have merino base layers on 4th December. They are ski-wear, but I presume they'll be ok for running (I'll be getting myself one, so I hope they will!)

Thanks everyone, I wouldn't have thought of half of these!
