I am in a grump about Christmas, actually in a grump about everything right now... Grin
Christmas will probably be me, husband and BIL's (no kids) we all normally go to my family but that's not possible this year, so for the first time ever we have Christmas at home on our own Sad
What would you do/eat etc etc to make the day special?

We are adults only too - we plan to go to midnight mass, then in the morning, open stockings we've done for each other, have a nice breakfast - maybe smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, then go for a walk on the beach. Come back & start cooking ( Turkey crown in the oven when we leave for beach ) open presents, have lunch, watch some Christmas TV & eat turkey sandwiches - seems perfect to me Smile

I would get some games in.

Does the budget run to one of those birds inside birds roasts from Lidl? That would seem indulgent to me.

'Its great no family drama no falling out just chilling with my husband'

Sounds wonderful! Lots of people, including me, will be very jealous

Adults only for me too - me, DP and PILs. Will be at their house so can't control very much but will be doing scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with prosecco for breakfast. A long run in the morning (pre breakfast!) for me. Watching films or telly that you have saved up and haven't had a chance to watch sounds great. Board games if that's your sort of thing. A bit more booze and chocolate than usual.

I was tossing up if you meant games as in food or play things, guessing you mean for playing. Any recommendations? We do play a card game, and DH and BIL's like to play dominos Hmm or arm wrestling...

iseenodust
Yeah it would do, have you ever had one?

Agree with all of your plans, going to include a cheeky afternoon nap- just like my Grampy would have!

Thanks lottapianos some people at my work think its sad but we are happy with it we don't bother putting a tree up ( may get a new ps2 game for us to play ) Grin

Well I think that says much more about them than it does about you stars. Very likely that they're beside themselves with jealousy and trying to make you feel inadequate to make themselves feel better.

I don't do a tree or any of that either. Have managed to live with the shame so far Wink

Just the two of us here too. I actually love it. Still have an enormous tree and do a roast with all the trimmings. The difference is, it's incredibly laid back and stress free.

We buy all the roast bits ready prepped from M&S and a turkey crown also ready prepped. Zero effort, tastes perfect.

We do all the usual stuff but as it's just us two everything is extra fancy. Posh chocs, expensive wine, that kind of thing. That way it all feels special and like a treat. Also take the dog a walk on the beach, but mainly we're really lazy all day.

We do relative visits at New Year, work and distance prevents it at Christmas but tbh I really do love our Christmas together.
