Amazon lightning deals - where am I going wrong?

I set a reminder for when a particular upcoming deal would be available on the amazon lightning deals thing. I went to it and it was like ONE second into the discount and already 100% were claimed. I don't understand it - how can that be possible?

I had the same yesterday on a sat nav. After 8 seconds the wait list was full. I can only assume they didn't have many available and lots of people also had their eye on it (or had scripted a bot to buy it).

I've bought loads of other lightning deals without problems, even from the wait list.

I haven't even seen a wait list - how do you get on those?

Just asked DH and he also said people set up computers to buy up the stuff. Gutted - it was a great deal and somehing I've wanted for years (digital piano).

Oh well, I got lucky at Asda yesterday with one of their Black Friday items. Got the last in the shop (and probably in the country) so can't complain too much, I suppose.

lots of items have come up later in 'Today's Deals' on Amazon, so I would keep an eye out and you may see it again. I DNK whether it's the same discount.

I am guessing it depends on how popular the item is? I managed to buy 3 toys for Xmas gifts.
