Short length fairy lights ... with dangling bits!

I drove past a lovely cottage yesterday and they had lights in the windows. The windows were about 1m wide and the lights ran along the top and then had several lengths hanging down in the windows. It looked fantastic.

Any ideas where I can buy short length lights with dangly bits? Suspect they will have to be battery operated.
