My ds is 9 and loves playing games on all sorts of tech - 3ds, iPad, Xbox, wii u etc. I'v seen something mentioned before that is some sort of starter kit to developing your own games/apps etc, does anyone know what this is (as have searched on mums net everywhere and can't find it again!!!).

According to computery dp a raspberry pi is a processor which is designed to help kids learn to programme, so it is to develop software. If your ds wants to learn to programme have you heard about Code Club? It's a national programme to work with children to help them learn this.

it's not a present, but if you go online and download scratch (for free!) he can start creating and coding his own games. schools have started to use it around y4 upwards, so ideal for his age.
