How can I start to feel festive?!

I love Christmas... really, I do. This year thought my life has been turned upside down - found out about DH's affair and kicked him out at the start of September, since then I've had a promotion, moved house, spent most weekends buying and building new furtniture, work has been absolutely crazy etc etc

I am normally starting to get excited for Christmas by the start of November, unsurprisingly I wasn't feeling it then - but I made myself start the shopping, and that's going well, now I'm getting worried that I'm not going to be able to enjoy it.

The last week I've watched a few Christmas films with the DC - but they just end up making me feel sad that I will be alone for the first time.

My family are ace and have already booked me to stay overnight at theirs after christmas lunch so I am not alone after the DC go to bed

But damnit I don't want my prick of a soon-to-be-EXH ruin this time of year for me.... does anyone have any experience or ideas on how I can start feeling festive?!

I've planned to buy a real tree for the first time since the DC were born - and started buying decorations, I'm just not feeling it still Sad

Bake some Christmassy cookies that smell nice

Take the DCs to see the lights

Paint your nails in Christmas sparkly colours

Don't expect too much of yourself, your relationship ended in September, that's no time at all.

i wouldn't put yourself under too much pressure and roll with how your feeling, your bound to feel sad after whats happened.

cry when you feel like crying and try and put those feelings aside and feel festive, then back again....its going to be normal. let it flow and come out....next year will be so much better.

as for the festive part, dressed up houses near you? nt? ice rink if you can skate....

I also find the Christmassy scented air fresheners and candles make me feel festive
