Would you like a flower subscription or is it pointless?!

My dad is having a cheese subscription for christmas with a set of cheese knives to open.

I'd like to get my mum something similar - a subscription to something. She's lost a lot of weight lately, although never large she's now pretty tiny - and wouldn't want a food type one. She doesn't really read magazines. The only thing I can think of is flowers. It's quite nice but I can't decide if it's worth it. I was thinking I could get a lovely new vase for her to open.

What do people think? Is it nice or pointless to get flowers in the post on the monthly basis? I always think flowers are nice but a bit of an 'I didn't know what to get you gift.'

I would also love this. I never buy myself flowers as i cant justify the cost of a treat like that but would love to receive this as a gift.

Me, too. I'm off to put it on my Christmas list.

I'd love it too, it's the kind of thing I'd really appreciate but could never justify buying for myself. Ideal present material!
Love the sound of the cheese subscription too - where have you got that from? My DH is a bit of a cheese fanatic...

There are quite a few places that do cheese subscriptions. Mine is coming from the cheese society.

I'm looking at bloom and wild for flowers, the medium sized bouquet. The reviews for them are excellent. Maybe I will go for it!

I love having fresh flowers on the fireplace so this would really appeal to me (as would the convenience of them being delivered direct to my door)

Marking place - love subscription type gifts and also want to know about the cheese one!

Looking at the tea one now for DH - teaholic.

I think you have to be careful in choosing the florist. Can you make an arrangement with a florist close to your mum to ensure quality. David Austen although expensive are. Very good if your mum likes roses.

BirdhouseInYourSoul Wed 19-Nov-14 17:59:40

I would love this!

I think subscriptions are a lovely idea. Getting something cheerful through the door every month is great.

I'd absolutely love it!

I'm eyeing up bloom and wild letterbox flowers. They fit through the door which might be good in case my mum is not in! Apparently they contain around 20 stems. The reviews are excellent as are the FB comments on their FB site.

Well I wouldn't like it but that's because whenever I'm given flowers I just seem to be waiting for them to die so that I can clean the vase out and get back to normal. That's why I'm no good with house plants, when I've been given one I just can't seem to keep them alive and am actually relieved when they are dead so I can throw them away and stop worrying.

Hurricaneinateacup Wed 19-Nov-14 18:44:15

Desperately was it the letterbox one you had? I'm just confused how they don't die in the post!

wouldnt appeal to me but i dont do flowers
if your mum likes getting flowers then go for it would be a lovely gift

SaltySeaBird Wed 19-Nov-14 20:06:30

Oh I'd love this!

Just to add it would be a great gift for me or my Mum as we both love having flowers in the house. It would be an awful gift for my MIL as she hates having flowers in the house. She puts them all on the windowsill in her downstairs toilet (even when she gets lots, so she ends up with 6 vases all crammed on top of each other)
