Afternoon Wink

Secret Santa at work, based on classic films and a tenner to spend.

I got the Lion King Sad, what on earth would you buy if you had to get something?.

I saw a meer cat garden ornament at B+Q, dh sniggered and commented that tumble weed would blow through the corridors as the recipient unwrapped it Blush

I am rubbish at secret-bloody-santa based on a theme like this!

Help, please.

Gods, I would hate that. Sounds like a recipe for everybody getting a tenner's worth of rubbish. Who is it for?

Erm...A tenner's worth of Lion Bars?

I think we're just going to put all of the gifts in a sack and then each of us pull something out and try to guess the movie based on the present!.

Don't think I won't use the Lion bar idea. Grin

Whose silly idea was that? Sounds really daft.

At least Lion Bars taste okay, so are therefore vaguely useful. I honestly can't think of a single other idea, and I'm usually good at thinking of stupid things.

We did it last year based on countries, I got Brazil!

I bought posh brazil nuts covered in chocolate, a bit of a dull gift I have to admit but she did seem pleased.

Have a look at the British film institute website for film & related memorabilia. How about Star wars figures or something like that?

I'd get this

Not much guessing involved though.

I'd rather than that than lion bars or teddy

Isn't there a famous episode of friends where they end up singing the Lion sleeps tonight? Could you get a cheap DVD of that?

Or make the phrase they are trying to get 'the Lion sleeps tonight' because that will then make the film obvious.

You could get a nice box or tin that could be desk/home storage, save a bit of budget for putting a lion bar in it, tucked up under a bit of jey cloth/blanket, and with a folded tissue/pillow, and maybe a do not disturb sign on the outside.

If you think they wont' get it, blu tack some removable 'jungle' clip art type images like a tree or monkey round the inside of the tin, around the sleeping lion. Or put a tiny note/sign saying 'in the jungle' somewhere hard to find - perhaps tape two bars together and hide that note between them, they can open if extra clue needed.

That way they have a lion bar or two to eat, and a nice tin or storage box to keep and use.

Or, get a lynx Africa set as someone said, and sellotape a lion bar to the front, just make a little crown with gold pen and a bit of paper and tape it round the bar. A lion bar with a crown on...they will get that fast I think!

OR, put said lion bar (with or without crown!) in a mug bought from on of the save the lions charities, like this one (this one may not be cheapest/quickest to arrive, but would be nice to get one where the charity benefits). www.cafepress.com/lionalert.559705214

A cuddly meerkat??
Elton John greatest hits cd?

Depends on your Secret Santa, with ours the gifts have to come from a charity shop and generally people buy the tackiest crap they can find :)
