A tree topper that sits straight?

I need a new topper for our tree - a star would be ideal, but I always find this kind of style with the spiral base end up lop sided.

Any suggestions? What'so on top of your tree usually?

I gave up on toppers, made a large bow out of wide ribbon and tied it on to the top of the tree

I can understand why SouthernOne! I'm not quite ready to give up yet, so still hoping for some inspiration...

I'm convinced such a thing just does not exist.

If mumsnet can't help, then I'm truly beaten in my search for a tree topper!

I think a star has to be wonky to be authentic.
They are always too heavy. I try folding the branch over, stuffing the cone with paper but they weigh down the tree and... lean.

I think you may be right candykane25. I just want something on my tree that isn't ready to fall over. Any good alternatives to a star anyone?

I think this is impossible!!
Tried many years to make one sit straight, I resort to a Massive bow now the type with fine wire inside the ribbon I pull and mould it now to look vaguely straight!!

You don't want a your topper to be straight - it will look like a shop tree, all matchy-matchy and sad Sad

I have an angel that i bought years ago in Boots, the body part is shaped like a cone so i fold back the top branch and wedge it on, stays straight all xmas.

Boo .... toppers, Angels, especially should never sit straight!

They should always look like they've been at the ginGrin

The problem is that the toppers are always too heavy, and those spiral things are no use. I have been known to make use of those green plastic covered wire ties to fasten toppers at the back to the top branch. Then lean the top branch backwards to counter balance.

Those spiral things ruin the top branch on an artificial tree year after year.

Erm. We dangle ours from a drawing pin attached to the ceiling. Always assumed I just bought substandard trees!

This is a fantastically 'first world problem', isn't it? But the type I'd post, too! Grin

I don't mind if they're a bit wonky, I just want a nice one so any ideas of decent toppers, please flag here, thanks!

I thought it was just me who couldn't get the star to stay straight! I feel like I belong now! We once had a card Homer Simpson from the back of a Simpsons comic and he stayed up straight till we took down the tree! I may check comics again this year!

So maybe I need an angel then. Don't suppose anyone has seen any nice ones this year?

And yes, very much a first world problem, but totally allowed in the Christmas topic Grin

I usually fold the top branch over and over and cable tie it so its nice and fat and the star sits ok on that but its got a cone thingy and then star on top, very similar to an angel really.
