Is there a thread about unusual and interesting on-line shops this year?

I've looked but I can't find one!

I'm looking for some interesting presents that are a bit different.

I shop on Not on the High Street occasionally and shops like Willow & Stone but there doesn't seem to be much originality out there this year.

Any ideas?

Someone here recommended Hus and Hem one time and I've since bought a load of Christmas presents for myself

I agree....I have not been blown away with anything I have seen on line or in store.

discovered this lady yesterday I adore her necklaces for children and cards....I am going to buy some cards and hang them up.

Thank you Werewolf hadn't heard of Hus and Hem, have just had a quick look and it's definitely going on the list!

Knitted yes there does seem to be a dearth of creativity out there (but maybe that's down to the economic climate, although thought that was meant to work in reverse!). if I see another pair of angel's wings or an 'interesting' printed tea towel, I think I will shoot myself! Thanks for link!

Damoves thanks! Definitely scanning Estsy fairly frequently. Just looking for something a bit original.

One of my sisters has recommended Rockett St George & Urban Outfitters for interesting stocking fillers, so going to look at them now ... .

And there's always Anthropologie I suppose ...

Any other newish sort of sites out there I wonder?

I bought some lovely decorations and nice ribbon and wrapping paper from here last year: www.re-foundobjects.com

For stationery bits I love Present and Correct and for unusual books Persephone Books but I can see that they are a fairly niche market.

If anyone likes craft and making they're own gifts I can recommend this website which sells kits to make, wrap and personalise gifts.

I like some of the stuff on here but I agree a lot of items seem to be similar wherever you look.

This is not an online shop but if you live in London then head to Spitalfields market on a Sunday for original ideas.

I like Redbubble, where independent artists and designers can sell their work on a range of products.

I like //www.toyella.com for unusual kids toys. I've not actually bought anything yet, but I've not really started properly shopping yet.

Otherwise, there are lots of interesting small businesses on facebook that make or distribute unusual things.

Right, finally been able to have a quick look at these fabulous suggestions and links (visitors here atm!). Sorry to be saying so so only now, but thank you so much for all of the links, which are hugely appreciated!

Twolittledarlings haven't investigated Campus Gifts properly yet but it looks ripe with possiblities! Thank you!

Can seem to access Ueueirre stupidlittlegirl but thanks for the suggestion Smile

Mummyboo really great to see so many unusual toys in one place at Toyella and have already mentally book-marked a few for colleagues dc!

Already a regular at Cox and Cox but seems a bit samey this year. Thanks nonetheless Dancergirl Smile

RustyDalek RedBubble looks like it might have quite a bit of potential for the teenagers in my life - thanks for link!

Wow! Hayletts looks wonderful MsAsprey thank you so much! Can't wait to dive in!

Live abroad (EU) but have noted Spitalfields for my next trip to London, thanks Asprey and ZeVite

Big waves to Engels!!! Thanks so much - they look spot on - really desperate for interesting books and stationery so they will both be great sources of inspiration when it comes to present list (actually thought you were joking about the second one though Wink)

Knitted Damsel and Woo-oo love Re-found but find their website intensely irritating (but that could just be me!) Smile

Thanks Knitted but find that bauble a bit disconcerting Grin

Will check out Firebox- thanks Roomsdoom

Artisan looks as though it could be good for presents for people such as colleagues/teachers that you don't know that well Prizepudding - but still unusual - thank you!

Ooooh thank you OldRoan had forgotten all about PresentandCorrect and I absolutely love it! And Persephone books looks wonderful too! Am really grateful!

Hope I haven't missed anyone out! Really feel a lot happier now starting my Christmas shopping thanks to all of these suggestions. Mumsnet is brilliant for this sort of thing!

I'll second firebox for secret Santa's and people who like weird stuff. Sometimes they have cute things too. Am thinking about buying an artisan cheese making kit for a friend that I saw on the site this week. Or the star mug that reveals the constellations when you put your hot water in it.

I have an etsy offer to get £5 off first purchase. pm me if you want details. I love etsy! Have also heard good stuff about Folksy.

Notonthehighstreet seems a bit of a mixed bag now, but still some good stuff.

Pedlars?! Grin
