Advent calendar ideas

Hello,

I'd like to have a non chocolate advent calendar for my nearly 3 yo DS this Christmas.

All I can see is the Playmobile ones which he is not really into - so I'm thinking of making up my own. He is into cars so I'm considering buying one of those calendars with empty pockets and putting in some cheap Hotwheels cars or something like that.

Does anyone have any other ideas, or examples of what they have done. I'd love some inspiration.

I got the dino eggs from the bargain thread and the co-op had 12 little kinder bars for £1. I know you don't want a chocolate advent calendar but you could but some in every couple of days or as weekend treats.

I've written about this on other threads but I do a letter one.. (I do put chocolate in too though)

I book shows and put tickets in, write about activities, suggestions for things to do like 'get a Christmas tree!' Or 'watch Elf!'

My DD loves it...

I just got my picture advent calendar delivered today Grin That is what I always had as a kid - you open the doors to a new little picture each day. Simple, but I always loved it.

I don't want the kids to think all special holiday things revolve around chocolate /candy and they will get plenty of toys on the day so I hit Amazon and ordered up an old fashioned one.

That isn't a commentary on what anyone else does by the by, I just notice we've been overdoing it in the treat=food/treat=holiday thing at our house.
