He is turning 8 at Christmas, we have a huge and generous family so need lots of ideas please for various budgets.

He has most Star Wars stuff and loads of Lego, is getting football goals and fifa 15 from us.

He likes minecraft but doesn't seem too fussed about the toys.

Ideas please? His sister is 4 and I can think of hundreds of ideas for her!

Cinema tickets?

Thanks

Cinema tickets are a good idea. Do you think 8 is too young to let him and a friend go together if I waited in coffee shop in foyer?

Ds has asked for teksta but I think he'd only be interested for a day or so....

How about:
Scalextric set
Lego
Sports clothes (skins seem popular with my boys)
Football
Onesie
Whiteboard and markers
Monopoly Deal
Digital clock for room
Blanket
Books (they've announced book award nominations today....maybe one of those?)

Personally, I wouldn't leave an 8 year old to it at the cinema...but depends on his and his friend's personalities I suppose.

If he likes Star Wars, there's the new Star Wars Command and Star Wars Rebels toys.

There are the Minecraft books if he doesn't have those already. You can get them boxed.

Spy net stuff.

Thanks everyone. He has a stunt scooter and minecraft books but yes, books are a good shout - he isn't the best reader - any suggestions? Was also thinking of maybe an audio book cd....

Star Wars command looks fab I think he'd like that - is there a difference between command and rebel?

Walkie talkies are a brilliant idea that I'd had a while ago and forgotten about so thank you! He plays out a lot so he'd love them.

I have seen a recommendation for David walliams audio books. My Ds isn't a keen reader either, so might have a look at them too.

I forgot I also got a table tennis net to attach on a dining table - it looks a really good, sturdy one.

Wimpy Kid books are fab as they have little drawings that break up the text, more fun than a normal book but not babyish iyswim.

My 8 wants a guitar this week if that's any help...

my 8yo wants;

  • a dog (not happening)
  • a blue office/swivel chair
  • Awful Aunty book

My mum has got him a remote controlled helicopter (ds1 got one around the same age).

I've got the Awful Aunty book and a Slushy Cup.
