£5 presents for children

I normally buy a little something for children of some close friends, I try and keep to about £5 per child. I've got some nice little things in the past by keeping my eyes open, but this year I'm out of ideas.

I have 2 six year old boys, 2 three year old boys and 2 two year old boys.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies. The Lego book would be good for one of the 6 year olds who's a big fan. I did Where's Wally books last year which were well received. Will check out the busy books and annuals for the little ones. I will also swing by asda for pirate ships for my present cupboard, that's a fab price.

If you have a Home Bargains near you, they have these toys in that are a room guard, torch and voice changer all-in-one for. £3.99, should cover all the age ranges. The ones I've seen are Mike from Monsters Inc, Iron Man and one of the TMNT.

this is the Sully version on ebay for £15.99

I meant Sully on my OP, not Mike.

That's a great price, I'll pop in to home bargains next time I'm close.

Thanks for the ideas!

I can't link to amazon without it revealing my details but they have little melissa and Doug stamp sets for £3.79.
My three and two year old love them and they have been well received as birthday presents for school friends too.

I would definitely go with busy books or stuck on stories. Tesco have them in store and they are fabulous value for money and dd adores them (3). Our Tesco isn't huge but we have jake and the neverland pirates, Thomas the tank, pretty princess, doc mcstuffins, mickey mouse clubhouse, and then Sofia the first stuck on story and princesses again. They are amazing for a fiver!

Tesco has half price toys at the moment - yesterday with my shopping I bought a big box full of Mr Men jigsaws (18 I think), a fire engine with lights/noises and a dressing up set for £5 each.

Thanks for the tip on the Book People sale and code zazza.

That should keep DS in bedtime stories for a while smile.

I just bought my nephew a harmonica for £5 in John Lewis. There were lots of other instruments too, some more expensive, but I know he hasn't got one!

Last year I bought for friend's children christmas hex bugs - a hex bug inside a clear plastic bauble. I think toys r us were doing 2 for six pounds.

My cousin's dc are 7 and 3, last Christmas I got them a marvel and a hello kitty sticker book off amazon for a couple of pound each then got them a tube of sweets each. If you've got a 'The Works' near you then it's always worth a look in there too

Studio24 have personalised Mickey Mouse swimming bag, towel and goggles, down to £4.99. Thought it was worth mentioning.

Someone's just posted the snowman and snow dog book and soft toy set on the Xmas bargains thread, £5 on amazon. Be lovely for the two year olds or me

I'm a bit disappointed that Amazon aren't discounting some of their Playmobil and Lego sets by more to compete with Argos 342. Last year lots of things had 33% off, but this year it seems to be 27%. Better than nothing but not as good as I'd hoped!

Wrong thread, sorry!
