I'm having THAT panic...the presents don't look much!

Ok,so I've got all ds presents.30 in total including a giant trike (he's 14) yet because most of the presents are smallish size wise (dvds, games etc) it doesn't look like much when you consider the trike is far too big to go under or near the tree.

Stop me panic buying too much Blush

Have you wrapped them yet? Presents always look pathetically small unwrapped! Wrap everything, pretty bows & all, and if it still looks like not enough, you're allowed to buy one more large (volume not price!) present... Wink

The main thing is he has presents and it will take a while to upwrap 30! Also, I guess there are other presents going under the tree, so I'm sure there will be a massive pile Xmas day.

I am having that wobble. DS's pile looks much smaller than DDs even though he has more presents, I need to buy her more though as the way we unwrap a present each in turn means we need equal number piles.

A bulky hoody/sweater?

I am the master of over buying, but I'd say thirty presents for one person is more than enough.

I can't see how thirty things would look disappointing, especially if your idea of small is DVD/game sized.

Does that include stocking junk?! How can thirty presents look small?!

Report
DustyBaubles · 10/12/2013 16:09

You'll have to put up a photo showing how thirty gifts can look small now, otherwise we'll tahe this as a stealth boast Grin

I wouldn't worry, but I had the same panic on saturday when I wrapped my presents. Looks much less for the older ones than younger ones because its more games and aftershave than great big toys.

I went out and bought some selection boxes, Calendars, Vests, and some little lego kits to even it out a bit. All relatively cheap and a bit boring but nice to have to unwrap.

30!! my dc are getting 3 each (they usually have 4) Max spend for each dc is £35-40 ds3 is getting a ps3 game off ebay and he's contributing 50% of the cost from his savings. Does anyone ever really appreciate having 30 presents?

I was worried that I hadn't gotten enough for DS this year. He's 12 and at that awkward age. I wrapped it all today. It's loads. Although I did things like wrap underwear separately! Wouldn't normally but it's jack wills and even in sale it was expensive! I also got him a huge bar of dairy milk and a box of Haribo cola bottles! Bulks it out but not much extra cost and he will love it.

I haven't counted how many but it's more than he is expecting as his main present is expensive.

I am sure it is plenty, but if you really want to bulk it out buy him a cheapish jumper or dressing gown they look big wrapped up.

I am sure what you have got is plenty though, if you are worried about the pile under the tree why not buy yourself something and add it too the pile? Why does everything need to be for your son?

30 is loads for a 14 year old. I honestly don't know why you are worrying.

A fourteen year old should appreciate cost , effort , thought etc. so hopefully he won't be appreciating the sheer volume . Buying presents for " bulk" is totally missing the point in my view

What are you worried about exactly? If your kid is disappointed with 30 presents then it is spoilt and should get a lump of coal next year Wink

30 presents, plus a trike sounds plenty, I think my dd's have around 25-30 gifts but they have no large/main present as such, it looks loads but a lot of it is things they need and will last the year. My dd's are 8 and 10, my 10 year old's pile looks a lot smaller as she has asked for ds games, dvd's and pokemon figures, dd2 is still into plastic tat which costs a lot les and comes in bigger boxes as well as pokemon (always wants what her sister has), also they have quite a lot of books. Dsd who is 14 only has about 5 gifts as she will be getting some cash to spend in the sales (I have got her a satchel, some make up, a purse, slippers and some bubble bath). I think at the age of 14 they should realise how much things cost, I try and explain to dd1 (when she writes her list) that the things she has asked for will come in small boxes so will not look like much but will have cost more money than her sisters file of plastic tat, she excepts that and is happy Smile.

30!! Ours get one each! And a stocking of course. But they have lots of uncles and aunts and grandparents which does make a difference. But I think that sounds like plenty Smile

Artandco · 10/12/2013 19:08

We only have one under tree and the rest in a stocking. I don't even feel mean. That's a main present ( bike each this year), and about 10 things in stocking ( tshirt, choc, small tic tack toe, yoyo, socks, small kite, bike bell and light and will get another thing or two probably)

That's seems like loads this year!
