Cambridge Brainbox or John Adams Hot wires?

Dd2(7) is interested in electronics at the moment as they have been looking at circuits in school. I have had my eye on the JA Hot wires, but was hoping for a cheaper one. The Cambridge Brainbox 100 is cheaper, but not nearly as many reviews and not as glowing - that could just be down to advertising though.
Anyone got either of those?

We have the Cambridge primary plus set, and I can't fault it.

My son got it when he was seven, and his two younger brothers have used it too. It still seems as good as new.

It looks identical, in terms of the way the components are made and used, to the JA one.

Thanks for that DustyBaubles. I thought it looked quite similar. Still dithering at the moment!

Snap Circuits are also a similar product. Don't know how the price compares to the others but my DS has the Junior kit and he spends hours building different things with it and I still don't have a clue how it works
