stocking filler - boys are 12 and nearly 15.

Previously we have had great success with Miranda, Outnumbered, Fawlty Towers and Top Gear.

But I am struggling to find something suitable to get this year. Obviously maximum certificate is 15. Don't want to get a movie which is just watched once.

Any good suggestions please? Doesn't have to be current, classic would be fine too.

Depending on their interests, if you have The Works nearby, they are doing a Bear Grylls Box Set for £7.99 (or, online there is a 20% discount code around, but need to spend over £20 or £25, from memory, for free p and p).

the mightly boosh although steer clear of the live show which is much more towards the 15 end of the ratings, IMHO

Ah, set I got last week at £7.99 doesn't seem to be online anymore, but have seen in store. Alternative at £8.99 Bear Grylls

Hot Fuzz.

Or, if you want to be the best mum in the world, the new one, World's End?

The Mighty Boosh.

Thanks for the suggestions - I hardly know any of those so i will have to do a bit of research!

As for the Simpons - the dc have managed to record almost 200 episodes on our digibox thingy! Otherwise would have been a good one ...

my 12 & 13 year olds love:

Big Bang Theory
Trigger Happy TV
Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
Only Fools and Horses
Still Game (probably need to be Scottish for that one!)

IT crowd is 15 but thinking of vetting some and maybe letting them watch as I think they would enjoy that too.

My teens love the brat pack movies. Ferris Beuler in particular. Ds1 (14) loves Game of Thrones but I wouldn't let a 12 year old watch it.
Mrs Browns Boys would go down well.

I must be getting prudish is my old age, would never let my twelve year old watch The Inbetweeners!

Report
soontobeslendergirl · 09/12/2013 23:26

I wouldn't either TurnOffTheTv and I'm not particularly prudish - there is also no way on earth they are getting to see Ted until 15 or thereabouts.

Wouldn't let them watch Mrs Brown's Boys either, partly because of the 15 certificate but mainly because it's just not funny!

Black Books? Not sure of the cert but it is endearingly silly, despite much drinking and smoking.

Father Ted is also great silly fun.
