Any film recommendations for Christmas Eve afternoon for a nearly 4 year old and a 16 month old (more for the 4 year old) I cannot think of a single one, except the grinch but she is terrified of that film! Not really after a character thing like Mickey Mouse/ peppa. Just a nice happy not too stressful, she is emotional Santa type film. Thanks

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer my 5 yo has loved this since she was 3 and it is the first Christmas movie she wants to watch every year. Cute animation and classic songs (and not too long!).

I know you said no characters, but we really like the Winnie the Pooh Christmas one A Merry Pooh Year, Ice Age A Mammoth Christmas is good and Merry Madagascar is really fun too (not really movies about 30 mins long).

Polar Express and Arthur Christmas also v good.

Polar Express and Santa Clause(only the 1st one)

Clandy I adore The Muppet Christmas Carol but my children find it a bit dark. They are 8 and 5. Might try again this year but I last tried 2 years ago and they weren't keen at all!

I was thinking of 101 dalmations this year, for some reason I recall it being Christmassy (or at least snowy).

Is Arthur Christmas at all sad, in any way? Ds1 is quite sensitive and I don't want him crying into his hot chocolate on Christmas Eve!!

Robbie the reindeer is a good one too.

Cannot believe I had forgotten about the snowman! Obviously not in the Christmas mind set yet! Think dd2 may have some interest in that one. And Father Christmas!! I will most likely buy all and watch a few others over the holidays. Thanks smile ps is the muppet Christmas carol scary ie with a ghost? I think that might be too much.

*Christmas Eve tradition, I meant!

The Christmas tradition in our house is to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas (Snoopy) and the Garfield Christmas Special. I've watched them every year since I was a kid, and my son loves them too.

My dd was 4 when she watched Polar Express and sat enthralled throughout. She's 6 now and we still watch it as well as Nativity, The Snowman, Elf, Jingle all the way, Santa Paws, Jack Frost, Santa Claus the Movie. This year we're getting Arthur Christmas.

We love Fred Claus, Elf and The Muppet Christmas Carol.
I bought Miracle on 34th St last year as DD2 loved the little girls coat on the DVD sleeve, had to explain to her (5yrs old) that it was just a film
And of course Santa was real!
Might get Arthur Christmas or Nativity this year to add to our collection.
None of us like Polar Express, gives me the heebie jeebies.

Santa Claus the movie, the one with Dudley Moore! Truly magical!!

DO NOT get the Grinch - DSD watched it when she was 6 and didn't sleep for a week - and she was not easily scared!

For a 4 year old I would go with Arthur Christmas. Ds is 4 now and loved it last year. I stupidly bought the grinch this week and scared the life out of poor ds. Won't be watching that again.

I would have thought elf was a bit old for a 4 year old. Polar express is lovely though.

My dd was 4 last Christmas and LOVED Arthur Christmas - great film. She also really like Polar Express.

Muppets christmas carol was ranked #1 Christmas film!

And Arthur Christmas is nice

(We saw that Guardians of whatever film last Christmas Eve I fell asleep ) blush

My DC are older but love Elf (I think it's unbelievably stupid grin )

Nativity 1 is good (Nativity 2 less so)

Home Alone but it might be a bit shock with the burglers

Gruffalo/ Gruffalos Child

Polar Express is lovely, beautifully made
