Christmas

Solo run-up

My DH has been unexpectedly asked to work away for the bulk of advent. It's a good opportunity for him, and I support him taking it.

HOWEVER: we have no kids yet and although we see family at Christmas, they live far away so I'm alone for most of the run-up. Feeling a bit woe is me about it, especially as I missed last Christmas due to severe ill health. I'm better now and was really looking forward to making up for it this year!

Those of you with partners who will be away, how do you deal with it? Do you save up the Christmassy activities for when they're back, or do you enjoy them solo? I usually do all the shopping/wrapping anyway, but at least he's there to keep topping my wine up keep me company. And how will we fit in our extensive schedule of Christmas movies?

How do THEY deal with it? I hate thinking about him stuck in a hotel room all alone of an evening - maybe we can watch our films together over FaceTime?
