Am planning to get DS a hudl for xmas - he loves minecraft and I have googled until my eyes fall out but I can't find anywhere on the internet that categorically tells me if you can play minecraft on a hudl. Please, Hudl owners, someone put me out of my misery?

I believe so its google android so you just go to google play and download the pocket addition £4.99

Sorry for the hijack, but does anyone know if you can play Minecraft on a Kindle Fire?

Sorry OP.blush

FourFlapjacksPlease Fri 08-Nov-13 21:57:34

yes to kindle fire! dunno about Hudl though.

Snoopytwist Fri 08-Nov-13 22:00:35

ELR Is the pocket edition the one you get on the iphone? He's tried that and got frustrated as its not the full game. Ooh, now I'm panicking. Re the Kindle Fire - is that the full minecraft you can play?

DioneTheDiabolist Fri 08-Nov-13 22:00:47

That settles it. Tomorrow I buy DS a Kindle Fire.grin. Thanks Flapjacks.

The android edition is exactly the same as the iPad edition.

Minecraft has many versions - Xbox, PC/Laptop, Tablet etc and they all vary slightly.

Which one does he play now?

DioneTheDiabolist Fri 08-Nov-13 23:29:53

He plays the basic App on the iPod. He doesn't have the £4.99 version.

WallyBantersJunkBox Sat 09-Nov-13 00:06:22

So he's playing Minecraft Lite? The free edition app?

5madthings Sat 09-Nov-13 00:13:32

Yes you can. We have a nexus and they can play it on that, you can get the same app for the hudl, we are thinking of getting one for Xmas.

5madthings Sat 09-Nov-13 00:14:44

There is also survival craft which is basically the same but another version, !y boys have that on the nexus and like it.

ELR Sat 09-Nov-13 07:43:10

The full version can only be played on a proper PC I think all versions for tablets are pocket or lite ect.

Yes you can categorically play Minecraft on Hudl. You get it through Google play.

We are getting MC mad DC one too.

Sorry to resurrect but can you also play games like angry birds and cut the rope? In fact can you do most of the games that you can do on other tablets? I'm a complete luddite but thinking of getting them for the DDs.

ilovesmurfs Tue 26-Nov-13 19:52:17

Yep anything from google play can be played on the hudl

BertieBowtiesAreCool Tue 26-Nov-13 19:52:22

Yes, BUT it is the "pocket edition" which means you don't have all of the blocks and you can't do all of the things. It's good in its own right but if they've been used to the computer version, it doesn't compare.

Diplo yes absolutely.

diplodocus Tue 26-Nov-13 21:44:35

Thanks very much -no, due to me being a total Luddite they're not used to anything at the moment. Another stupid question - we don't have wifi at home (but will be getting it in the new year) will I be able to connect the Hudl to my desktop to download games for them in the meantime?

DitsyDonkey Tue 26-Nov-13 21:45:07

This is probably going to be a very silly question but I have an iPad and want to get minecraft for my ds where do I o to get it? (I'm not very techno minded) blush

SoonToBeSix Tue 26-Nov-13 21:48:10

Just the regular app store

Not sure about the connection question. I know you can access the google play store on any internet browser: You can browse it and even purchase apps (though make sure the correct Google account is signed in!) but I think they are delivered via wifi.

OK Bertie. Thanks very much. Suppose I could go and sit in a costa or something.

Please could some lovely, lovely person tell me if I have to pay for it twice to down load it onto DD and DSs Hudls? Or is there a way that just paying for it means that you 'have' it and you can download it on different bits of hardware? confused

Can anyone help?

JerseySpud Mon 26-May-14 18:59:29

Yes you can on a HUDL. My dd1 does happily.
