She relented (secretly excited really) and let us walk around a toy shop the other day.

She even got in a Little Tikes playhouse, but nearly broke her neck doing so.

We looked at all the playmobil and sylvanian stuff. It was ok, but damn i miss those fiddly little sets.

sad smile

omg she is nearly 12

(just read that back) arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Kyrptonite Tue 05-Nov-13 22:18:42

I have a 3 year old you can borrow. She loves little play set tat like sylvanians.

She is unfortunately stuck and only says one phrase "muuuuuummmm where are you?" All day long.

My DD is nearly 5 and I don't know what tat to buy her!

17leftfeet Tue 05-Nov-13 22:22:32

My 12 yo wants hello kitty and my little pony stuff for Christmas

Apparently it's ironic!

Perhaps you could encourage her to be a bronie!

disclaimer, I have no idea what that actually is

My youngest is nearly eleven and I'm sad that we seem to have come to the end of her wanting toys sad She loves technology and books so we're going with those I think, this year but I will sneak in a couple of board games and cuddly toys anyway

Feel free to have my nearly 7 year old and my eccentric 2 year old

havatry Wed 06-Nov-13 11:06:17

I know. My dd is 8 but I really want to buy her this so that i can play with it. I don't think she'll fit in it though.

piratecat Wed 06-Nov-13 11:18:19

havatry I can't see you link?

Kryptonite, bless her! Mine is going though a 'mum i miss you' thing atm though, when she is in the lounge and I am in the kitchen. It's lovely to be loved!

Insanityscratching, i am carrying on the the lovely tradition my mum did for me, a cuddly every year (till i was erm about 26). I got her one of these bunnies, it's lovely
I want one!

I do love the sound of your ironic and eccentric children though. Great isn't it!

havatry Wed 06-Nov-13 14:30:12

Oh sorry - I think it might be selling out. It's a cardboard fairy castle a bit like a wendy house you colour in with pens. It's meant for smaller dc really though.

piratecat Wed 06-Nov-13 15:19:14

ah i see, my dd hasn't had the fairy/pink thing. She would have liked a pop up garage or pokemon headquarters lol.

just dug out all the bits I've bought so far, it's looking good.

FriskyMare Wed 06-Nov-13 16:15:59

Mine are 16 and 13 so I spend far too much on my little nieces although I couldn't quite stretch to the Mailag Mice Circus might buy one just for me

trish5000 Wed 06-Nov-13 16:27:28

I know how you feel, op. I really do. I dont miss many aspects of their childhoods, been there , done that.
But I still very much miss going in and looking at and buying things in toy shops. I have been known to go in and browse for no reason whatsoever other than I wanted to

piratecat Wed 06-Nov-13 16:28:22

well thanks very much for showing me the Mice Circus!!! now i want one wink

piratecat Wed 06-Nov-13 16:29:58

we had so much fun looking at all the stuff, i was just reminded how much older she is this year!

NormanTheForeman Wed 06-Nov-13 16:33:16

Fortunately my owner at 12, still likes Playmobil, but I am dreading the day he grows out of it! shock

17leftfeet she would have to be a pegasister I believe. Bronies are boys.

I am ashamed that I know this.

Bonsoir Wed 06-Nov-13 17:57:21

My DD is going to be 9 on Saturday. It will be toys galore! I realise that time is running out sad

Marne Wed 06-Nov-13 18:01:45

Dd1 is almost 10 and not really into toys anymore, am struggling to find things for her other than pokemon, luckily I have a 7 year old who loves every toy so can still shop in toy shops.

piratecat Thu 07-Nov-13 00:08:32

ah Marne. i had a look at dd's pokemone onesie today it's utterly ridiculous grin had any more luck with the gift ideas.

CrotchStitch Thu 07-Nov-13 07:54:55

Oh pirate I know <clasps pirates hand>
I went into the toy shop on Monday to buy some Yu Gi Oh cards for DS's stocking (he is 9) Out of habit I looked through the Cars die cast figures which we have about 200 of anyway as I have to ensure they do not have one that DS doesn't have. Lo and behold I spotted a likely candidate, but my frisson of excitement was quashed when I realised that the cars haven't been out of the box for over 6 months.
Cars are officially babyish and have been replaced with trading cards, Minecraft and the guitar <sob> sad

piratecat Thu 07-Nov-13 08:12:10

i squeeze your hand in return.
dd loved cars too.
the cuddly tow mater got consigned to the charity shop pile two years ago.
i just couldn't so put him in the bottom of one of the tow boxes.
smile x

Marne Thu 07-Nov-13 08:19:28

The onesies are huge grin, sure they will love them though, i'm still stuck on what to get dd1, she went and bought the new pokemon x game with her pocket money so cant get her that sad, think we might get her a nook or basic kindle but still not sure, she's so hard to buy for. I did find pokemon plush toys in TK max yesterday for £10, they are quite big smile.

Ihatemytoes Thu 07-Nov-13 08:25:43

My 12yo DD still loves playmobil, yay!

Marne Thu 07-Nov-13 09:52:25

I love playmobil, I have bought a set for dd2 for Christmas, dd1 used to have loads but never really played with it. I bought dd2 lots of plastic tat from argos yesterday (3 for2) but am struggling with dd1, have bought way too much for dd2 but plastic tat is so cheap compared to the sort of thing dd1 likes, I know dd2 will play with almost anything I get her so she's so easy to buy for and easy to get carried away. I have finished buying for dd2 ( must not pick up anything else ) and have got loads for little money.
