Our elf is all prepped to arrived on the evening of the last day in November, we have the original elf and my son has been watching the accompanied dvd for a couple of weeks now.. I was going to just have the elf arrive in our hpuse, but after watching the dvd the elf arrives in his box outside the front door... with him he is bringing a christmas book, and Christmas bed cover, advent calendar and count down santa...its all wrapped in cello wrap and has twinkly fairy lights. .. I know elf on the shelp is a subject that has split opinions but those of you that are doing it, how is yours arriving?

we started this last year. DP was a bit sceptical but even he loved doing it!!! We kept it very simple last year as DD3 was born in November so very sleep deprived Grin just hid the elf each evening up high so DD2 couldn't reach and touch!! Grin

the elf arrived wrapped up in its box along with the dvd and advent calendars. The DDs weren't that interested until they'd watched the dvd so I think you've done it right watching the dvd in advance.

I'm not sure whether we'll leave him in the box again this year or have him out hanging from the curtain pole Grin

sorry haven't answered your question Grin

Our elf Norbert knocked on the front door on the morning of the first of December and I let the DC open it to find him sat there brandishing a note informing them of who he was and why he was there last year. They were only 2 and a half, 18 months and 4 months so none of them really grasped it very well.

This year I've bought the DVD which arrived today, I was planning on letting them watch it the day before he arrives but now you've mentioned about watching it a few times in advance I might try that so thanks for that Grin. And this year he's bringing Christmas duvet, Christmas colouring book and a couple of Christmas books so won't be knocking on the door. I think I'll just sit him on the base of the fireplace with everything so in the morning the DC come downstairs to find him along with all the decorations up Grin. So excited!!!

Ours will be bringing Christmas stories and an advent calendar.

He arrives on 1st Dec and rings the doorbell, though last year we weren't quick enough so he tried to climb through the letter box

Elf arrives on the sofa with a letter from Santa and the advent calendars. Then he disappears........

DS (10) is a terrible non believer, but DD (7) loves looking for him each morning. I think DS secretly does too, for all his grumbling.

Ours came with a rucksack so he is going to be hanging in his bag (his head pokes out of the top) on the back of DSs door in the morning. He'll be really excited to see him again! x
