DH is hard to buy for and when I ask him what he wants he's not very helpful. Any ideas gratefully received.

My dh is getting the same as last year. 20 pairs of socks all the same colour and style as last year. He likes to grab any socks in the morning and have them match. (OCD). I also get him marzipan sweets as he loves them. If he wants anything else he buys it as and when. He's always been like it, Christmas isn't special for him.

I've got him 2 books so far but I'm lacking inspiration this year. I was going to get him a Waka Waka solar charger but it seemed very expensive for what it is and I wonder if he'll get enough use out of it. Basically I am marking my place so I can nick some good ideas.

The running hat with led lights sounds really interesing Nipple. Have you/your DH used them before?

Same as always sigh
Fifa game for PC
Game voucher
Bottle of whisky
Football book

GerrardWinstanley · 29/10/2013 20:42

things that have gone down well with my dh in recent years
coffee subscription
new scientist subscription
good telescope
coffee bean grinder
birds of prey experience
l'occitance mens gift set

dcs usually make him up a box of treats (baklava, good bottle of wine, cashews. posh crisps, chilli chocolate) and I usually buy him some clothes because he hardly buys himself any.

This year new things I have thought of are:
voucher for a proper hot shave - there's a barber's near us that does them
flat cap
giant microbes soft toy
scratch and scroll
weights
home brew kit

other inspiring ideas I've seen mentioned are beerbods subscription, kindle, good watch

what does your dh enjoy? any hobbies? anything he used to do that have gone on the backburner since children came along or anything he dreams about doing?

My DH used to climb a lot as a younger man Wink so I am getting him some 1-2-1 climbing tuition at our local wall to get him back into it.

(it is really quite sexy watching him climb...so he may get extra 'presents' afterwards Grin)

Same sort of thing as usual - something to do with running / something to read / something to listen to / something to eat / something to wear.

Dh enjoyed his beerbods subscription last year. Also the shampoo bars from Lush are good for stockings.

Same problem here... Dh want and needs nothing, and has a birthday on the 24th

Might try to get him a new mobile (his is so ancient the battery has failed but he can't be arsed to do anything about it, he's not exactly a heavy user ;-)... but i will have to do this via voucher to transfer his number etc

The new Asterix (and the Picts)
And the old faves: socks, chocolate, mug painted by the kids.

Toying with the idea of getting him a nexus - the kindle two years ago was a great success though he would never have bought one himself.

So I'll be watching with interest too!

Nothing.

Ah yes, I forgot, i'm also toying with the idea of a flavourly 'hamper', and the beerbods sub last year was a success. Semi-recurring things he wears out/or breaks with some frequency are wallets and watches to they crop up every couple of years.

DSJames this is the hat with lights on Personally I don't run for a bus, but dh is quite a serious runner and is a group leader at his club. He hasn't had one before but has tried clip on lights for running at night. I thought the hat would be a good idea to make him easily distinguishable in the group.

Bea Grin That's an impressive list. I quite agree, the bargain thread is highly addictive.

GlimmerBerry What is the point of those Raspberry Pi thingies?

CuriosityCola · 29/10/2013 21:42

What is beerbods?

Do you have the link for the coffee subscription. That is a great idea. Could sort of gift for dh and for pil depending on price. Grin

So far I've bought a couple of graphic novels; New Avengers Vol 1: Breakout and Batman The Killing Joke. I think I might buy him the Sopranos DVD boxset and some sweets.

I did think about getting him some sports clothes, but he didn't like the idea!

The Sopranos were on his list, but the two graphic novels I choose based on what he currently has and searched on Forbidden Planets website.
