Going to DMs for Christmas, do every year, and her sides, while plentiful and tasty, arent ever more than a standard sunday lunch offering. Most people bring a little something, so id like to make and bring two sides (we also do the starter to contriute)

What are your favourites? Anyone gotlinks to any tried and tested 'wow' dishes?

My mum always makes Brussels with lardons ( very crispy) and chopped chestnuts. Delicious.
Last year she made a big bowl of spiced red cabbage. Also went down very well

Parsnips parboiled then rolled in breadcrumbs and Parmesan before roasting (we use pretendy Parmesan - vegetarian friendly)

Cauliflower cheese is always lovely

I like thin sliced steamed green cabbage. I haven;t tried spiced red .
(Note to self to try)

I but ready made cheeses blankets. Asda or sainsbury sell them. I think it's processed soft cheese, not cheese cut from a block, they are lovely

I made these last year (without the mustard because DP doesn't like it) for a crowd of veg refusers who all tried a small spoonful to be polite. They then all proceeded to come back for seconds and thirds. Not a single carrot or parsnip left.
