What are you planning for lovely, thoughtful gifts?

Ds1 has 2 teachers and ds2 has 3 or 4 teachers at his nursery.

Stolen from the ponces, I am collecting Pringle tubes, which I will wrap and shove a sticky bow on the lid and fill with round biscuits, shortbread or cranberry cookies. I think any teacher would appreciate it, and I may go as far as to get DC to colour and draw the wrapping themselves.

I did a drinks hamper for the staff room one year, nice coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate, biscuits and some chocolate coffee beans, looked nice and was useful.

dd1 has refused my input this year and from one of my xmas magazines wants to make gingerbread body scrub, not sure how well that will go down but at least it is all from her.

I have bought Cath Kidston make up bags for the teachers and LSAs this year. I love them...DCs need to choose who has what design now. Lol

groovejet your staff room idea is brilliant, my ds2 shares a special needs assistant, his main teacher, his resource teacher and the principal has been a god send, so a hamper for them all to enjoy is far more thoughtful than any of the tat i could think of! And miles cheaper!

3d chocolate tree mould.. im going to get the kids to make some and decorate them cheap enough to make one for the teacher and ta :)

Going to make personalised notebooks and get them to each decorate a candle to give to their teachers. Plus will probably send in chocolates/ biscuits. It's tricky as there are a number of SN children in their classes so lots of extra TAs plus on has job share teachers, probably about 15 teachers/TAs between the three of them. Mine do like to do their own craft though. Might steal the pringles idea and give as class present then main present for their main teacher. Could find colouring placemats like M&S do and get them to colour those and put around pringles tube.

Scandalously place marking as DS has two teachers and two music teachers. Was very tempted by the sick bouquet somebody linked to on here but it is too expensive with two teachers

Dd will make a big drinks coaster or Xmas tree dec out of Hama beads. Have done for the last few years and teachers have always been pleased.

Then we always bake a huge plate (4 x normal quantity) of brownies for the staff room which doubles as a pressie from me as I'm a parent governor. I'm always aware that the teaching assistants and office staff can get forgotten as junior school level so like to do something for everyone.

Most teachers i know openly admit you cant go wrong with wine! unless you know the teacher well I expect lots of gifts get 'passed on'. Mine will be getting asdas 3 wine for £10 between them (but then I'm not the most imaginative present buyer!)

Dd1 in Secondary bought her art teacher a Christmassy tie. He loved it and wore it in the run up to Christmas every year but he had eccentric tastes. Does your child know anything about their teacher? Dd2 can always tell me what her teacher likes just by listening in class

No idea yet this year. Have done jewellery, scarves, nice bubble bath etc in the past. Dont tend to do wine as no idea which make or colour they like.

I am hoping google will come up with some inspiration as have quite a few school staff to buy for.

DH is busy brewing elderberry and blackberry wines - these will be bottled and handed out to all.

DD1's teacher will also be getting a cinema ticket to see WarHorse in February - The National Theatre is live streaming the stage show into cinemas around the country on one night only. She's only getting something extra as DD1 is Yr6 and she's been with the same teacher since Yr1 and we all think she is very special.

As a TA in a lovely schoo,l I am always astounded at the generosity of the parents. We do, afterall, get paid to do our job!
For those who do wish to give a small "thank you" gift, you really can't go wrong with tea/coffee/biscuits for the staff room or, as I have seen suggested before, a book for the library.

I love how much you love your kids teachers and ta's. Im a teacher and love anything homemade. I have kept every card ever given to me (been teaching almost 10years) and the thank yous do mean such a lot.

I am doing a hamper for the staff too as my son has SN & has a lot of input from lots of people so the hamper is affordable.

For his bus driver & escort, I have bought 2 tins of the M&S four seasons biscuit tin. It's on half price at £5 a tin so I got 2 for 1.

Secondary school teacher here.....I got a box of £1 malteasers once. Nearly made me cry as they don't bother at that age and I was amazed they'd been so kind as to buy me something!

Right I've decided (thanks to friskymare!) that we will do a hamper of nice tea and coffee, some biscuits and some homemade brownies or similar. Small gift box with 4 homemade cupcakes in for each music teacher- many thanks all :)

Can I ask, do people get Xmas presents for nursery staff as well as teachers? DS is coming up to 2 years old and started nursery in January. I am a bit clueless about these things!
