Wrapping presents for kids

Every year I tend to wrap ds presents in matching paper... is that boring? Do kids like to see a multi coloured mountain of presents or am I being daft in even giving tjis brain space :-)

I use a separate paper for each daughter. That way I can sort them into two piles easily on Christmas Eve. They each have a different paper, but all their Santa presents are wrapped in them.

They get the variety of colour with the presents from the Grandparents.

You could mix it up a bit if you wanted but do you think they even care?

I only have the one so I guess different paper doesn't matter...nope doubt he cares...but my OCD does :-)

Personally, I prefer a mix of wrapping paper. I'm also not a fan of the separate piles for each person that some people do. It doesn't have to be multicoloured, just not one wrapping paper for one person and one for another. Obviously you can do what you like though, I doubt children give this much thought when they're getting presents!

Stocking presents are wrapped in special FC paper.
Tree presents are wrapped in same paper for everyone.
MIL is not keen on tags and so Christmas morning is punctuated by shrill cries of "that's not yours !"as she wrests a parcel from the person she has just given it to.

Such fun !

Grin at Trumpton!

I did the kids presents in their own wrapping paper last year and it was so much easier.

I can't believe people wrap stocking presents!

Why wouldn't you wrap stocking presents? It just adds to the fun! (I love wrapping anyway, I know some people don't)

Christmas sacks are wrapped by Santa, and each child has her own paper for that. This means I can wrap and store them and know who they are for, and not have to worry about mixing up the gifts etc. it's just wrapped with cheap paper that usually has Santa or Rudolph on it in some way.

Presents under the tree, I usually wrap in the Same paper, and decorate with ribbon, and nice bits to make it look beautiful.

Wrapping is one of my favourite parts of Christmas Grin

Mine get a random assortment of paper, all labelled so they know whose is whose.

I like the variety under the tree but tend to only put odd bits there & the rest is 'delivered' by santa on Christmas eve.

(I love wrapping night....kids to bed....glass of Wine ....christmas film on the box & wrap away! Brilliant fun....dp is not so enthusiastic when I announce wrapping night Grin )

My sister does all our wrapping for us ( store all the presents at her house) and she wraps each person in a different paper ,makes it easy if a label goes astray . She is fab at wrapping and uses lots of fancy crap to make them look nice .

I like to see lots of different paper under my tree.

I wrap the children's presents in their own paper as this makes it easier to sort. I also do the same for their stockings.

I often buy lots of small presents for the other children in the family (nieces and nephews etc) and I wrap these in their own paper as well. I normally buy some gift bags and transfer the presents to them when I'm transporting them.

Everybody else has 1-3 different types.

I have different paper for dcs and dh...and it has to colour co ordinate.
And I wrap stocking presents too.

I am doing all presents from Santa (both under the tree and in the stocking) in the same paper. Then presents from me and/or family will be in different paper. I just ordered the paper from Matalan yesterday using the 3 for 2 offer and 10% off code I found online :)

MIL always does the matching paper and I think it's boring looking and not very festive. I like to have a lot of different ones...but I was very impressed by my friend's gifts as she chose a variety of papers but all in shades of red, gold and white...but because they all had different patterns etc it didn't look all matchy-matchy in a naff way.

Saying that, I love wrapping paper and couldnt; limit myself!

We buy a different wrapping paper per person, extended family get a seperate one as well. In our house we send Santa the same paper as ours Wink so its all the same

I wrap everyone's in the paper I have (usually a 20m roll from somewhere in the sales) then label them.
I'm not one for a matchy-matchy Christmas, it's only going to be ripped off and binned.
I make friends' presents fancier with ribbons, bows etc, but not dc's.
My DSis and i had a pillow case under the tree and all the presents inside were ours, no need for different paper or tags. I can't remember ever seeing matching paper under the tree - so I don't think dc realise.

Honestly I think you are being daft, but I am also not organised enough to do this.

I would like nice shiny purple and silver wrapping paper with bows and ribbons. The reality is that my kids like the 10m for a pound stuff covered with snowmen or Santa.

I also quite like seeing them surprised if they have another present as they can't tell at first glance.

I don't wrap stocking presents. Father Christmas big present gets wrapped in naice Father Christmassy type paper. Then we have a joint parents present, daddy present and mummy present which get wrapped in whatever fits it from the Christmas paper variety bag which is normally bought in the New Year for half price ... so 4 presents. The presents to DP and from him get wrapped from the same bag - using up the odds and ends. We don't do fancy bows or tape because...

In the afternoon, we have DS Birthday opening present time. Same thing but in BIRTHDAY ONLY paper ie one from both of us, one from mummy and one from daddy and he also gets a little Birthday present and card from Father Christmas Smile

I am strict with family that Birthday is in Birthday paper and Christmas is in Christmas paper as if their Birthday was in June they would most definitely be peeved if it was wrapped in Christmas paper. I do try to make the day special and Birthdaylike even though it's Christmas Day.

My top tip is to get a selotape dispenser - non of that faffing about at all!

noyouhavehadawee · 13/10/2013 20:57

im thinking tin foil - no sellotape needed nice and silver!

I have one design for DH and one for DS. Means no tags Grin.

Presents from other people go under the tree and we open them first so we can say thankyou and remember who they are from.

oldsilver I've always tried to enforce birthday paper for ds' birthday which is on 23/12 but I've given up now because dd who was 3 in september got a Christmas gift bag with her presents in, unwrapped and it had a tag on addressed to someone else. Brilliant.

Oh and in our house Santa presents are all in one kind of paper for both dc and in stockings. Their presents from us are in a different paper per child and if I'm wrapping stuff for them from other people then I do that in different again paper.

I like a mix of wrapping paper, because I think it looks more interesting.

Their socking paper is always from those packs of sheets you get, so all the little presents look different, fun and pretty Grin

I buy special rolls of wrap for the kids tree presents. I think it makes it more exciting if there is a pile of pressies all wrapped in different colour papers. (in the real world they probably couldn't give a fig Grin )
