playmobile advent calendar

Ds (4) is just getting into playmobile and I've been toying with the idea of one of the advent calendars.

What I didn't realise was how many different varieties there are! I quite like the idea of a traditional scene but just wondered if its any good and worth the money?

We got one for DD (then nearly 3 yo) last year. She loved opening the little windows and building the scene. There are a lot if very small parts to it and now keeping it all together is a bit of a struggle (but then again isn't this the case with many toys!). On some days the toy was not as exciting but at that age she did not care much. I think I will get another one this year - but mainly because I love playmobil! Grin

Love them and if you can get them around £16-£18 I think they're good value. Woodland scene and post office are both Christmassy and reasonably priced Smile

thanks for the replies.

Bit of a daft question but can you reuse them year after year? As in put them back in the windows and reopen it?

You can't reuse them but my kids play with the set that comes with them for ages, although being cardboard it does get battered eventually. But definitely worth the money. We budget it as a present as it will get played with after Christmas.

Ah so not such a daft question after all!

I quite like the idea of getting a Christmas scene out year after year - I have an ancient lego father Christmas who still makes an appearance every Dec!

they're great we have the post office and woodland scene. DD is 4 and loved it last year. we just box them up and reuse them. we have got both 'free' or heavily discounted from toys r us as we bought other playmobil stuff around xmas.

think we will stick with these two for this year as DD is getting lots of playmobil this year Smile

MiL had the post office one year & then kept all the bits tucked away with the christmas decs for g/cs to play with at Christmas time, which I think is a nice idea.

Of course she is in a different situation in that all the dc go away and then she can pack it up neatly!

We have been putting the woodland scene and post office back in their boxes/windows for years now. It's part of our Christmas tradition!

We've had the post office, wedding, pirate, and dinosaur calendars over the last couple of years. They have all been great. I've bought them all from Amazon, ranging from about £9 to £12. So they do go cheaper but to be honest even at around £18 I think there are good value. You could in theory reuse them. Once the cardboard boxes are open, they could he folded back in to be used again, but wouldn't look very good. You could always buy one of those wooden or fabric calenders to reuse the bits.

We love them. But Playmobil does have loads of small bits and you do need to look after it.

We had one last year and ds2 loved it. He's played with its contents all year and is planning on making it back into a scene this Christmas.

Ds1 chose the lego city one which wasn't as good in my opinion - not at all Christmassy.

We've had and loved the forest one and the post office, the others just don't look christmassy :(

wish there was a nativity one.

There is a playmobil nativity set though... and the expansion set of the 3 Kings/wise men

We also loved the post office. DD was 5 first time we got a calendar.

This year I think I'm going to buy a couple of the normal Christmassy sets and put all the bits into a fabric calendar thingy.

The nativity set is lovely. I bought it after Christmas last year. Had to buy the kings and the camels separately.
