I was sooooo excited Friday with the delivery of our Christmas elf, he comes in a lovely presentation box with a book, I cant wait for him to 'officially' arrive on the 1st dec... but im wondering, do I just give ds the box he arrived in withthe book, or do I read him the book the last night of November and then the elf is hiding somewhere around the house dec 1st? I did think about presenting the elf in a hamper with the book, elf on a shelf dvd and advent calendar On the mmorning of dec 1st .... ideas on presentation please :-/ xxx

How old is your DS ?
(I had no idea there was a DVD, I knew about the book )

Mine are teen/preteen so I just hide our Elf (our advent tree is set up on the last day of November, one of our oldest Traditions)

I guess if he's young enough to 'do' the whole thing, watch the DVD before to give him the ideas.
Then leave the book with him, (I think there are things to fill in , every day diary )

And you'll need to give your Elf a name Grin

Will he do a nauty or nice thing first night?

Ours hides on the doorhandles, the standard lamp, in the fridge.

He leaves green elf wee in the downstairs loo and his cereal on the worktop. Elf footsteps in flour on the draining board.

Then we write down where he was hiding each day.

And mine (which isn't a real LotS, it's one I made) carries a little bag to hold a couple of chocolate coins Wink

How exciting! Our Elf arrived a couple of weeks ago and is currently hiding away until 1 December.

I got the book and the elf not the DVD so what I've decided to do is read DD the book on 30th of November.

Then while she is sleeping -decorate her room with fairy lights and a little christmas tree I found at a car boot sale. She's really into disney princesses so I am decorating her tree with cardboard cut out pictures of each of the princesss and a few of those little keyring high heel shoes to look like cinderella's glass slipper and a white feather boa from her dressing up box. I also found some heart shaped fair lights from a car boot so I'm lighting up her tree with those. My mom sent me some disney princess fabric so I'm making some xmas bunting with the fabric and little christmassy felt princess decorations like tiaras and high heels in between the fabric bunting with little mistletoe on them.

So she'll wake up and get that suprise then come downstairs for breakfast and find a north pole breakfast courtesy of the elf who will be sitting on top of a tiny table top christmas tree. Check out this North Pole breakfast

70isaLimitNotaTarget thanks for the ideas!

I've seen an elf on the shelf planner here themoodyfashionista.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/elf-on-shelf-planner.html

to download for free and because I am planning on integrating the elf's shennanigans with holiday activities like baking, crafting and outings I definitely need to plan.

The book is a story book so I think I will read it to him at the end of November, our elf will then be hiding somewhere around the house on 1st dec, ive ordered a little elf door from a website and I will tell ds that is how the elf gets back to the north pole every night
