Christmas

What are you getting you're DCs and what age are they?

Looking a bit of inspiration really. DC's are 4yo DS and 2yo DD. Don't want to be buying loads of toys as such as we have a toy cupboard full so thinking along the line of things they can collect/add to. So far we have got DS lots of Lego that we got half price in Argos. We got a ton of it so he's pretty much sorted but stuck for DD. We have got her the playmobil school and the take along dolls house. I know she's a bit young but I'm hoping she'll grow into it.

Any ideas for a 2.5 DD and what are your DC's getting?

My older son is three and autistic, he loves computer type stuff, art and animals.

For the computer stuff he will be having a Leappad 2 (the older version, not the new one out that is over £100), for the art stuff he will be having paints and crayons in his Christmas stocking and for the animals I am going start him with Playmobil.

He has the 123 range and loves the animals from that but he likes his animals to be detailed and preferably small (he has a huge collection of mini animal toys). I have got him the penguin set today, a great bargain at £5 from Asda direct and he will likely get the pigs set as he likes pigs.

He isn't ready for big sets yet but I think he will be delighted with a few little ones.

My younger son is five months, he is so little is is hard to know what he will like. I will probably get him the vTech baby walker due to people on here saying how much their child loved it and I have gotten him a My Pal Scout as he loves my older son's one. The face gets a big smile and the songs make him laugh.

For your daughter I would suggest My Pal Scout or Violet, my son has loved it. The Playmobil 123 ark as that has been a big hit here, the animals are very sweet and you can even float it in the bath. I think the 123 range is compatible with the usual Playmobil so it will work with her other sets. Tag Junior (now called Leapreader Junior) has been a big hit and played with constantly.

For a sharing present a wooden railway might be good, they could play with it together and it has the potential to add to it every year. You can get loads of fun accessories for it.

Thanks lilicat for you're ideas. I saw your post about the penguin set but it was out of stock by the time I checked.

I have looked at that Playmobil 123 Ark a few times and thought it looked good, didn't realise it floated on water. I might get DD some Duplo too.

I saw this on Argos today, Fisher-Price might be good for you're DS2.

I hadn't even thought about something like a Tag Junior for DD, must look into that.

Thank you, I haven't seen that toy before, it is huge!

Both boys would like it though as my older son loves cause and effect toys.

Duplo is brilliant as there is loads you can get to add to it. We got a big box from a guy at the car boot sale. I am hoping my younger son will grow to like it as my older one isn't interest in building. He just loves to empty out the huge tub to get all the little animal figures out.

The guy we brought buys second hand duplo and sells it by the bucket at the car boot sale and on eBay. Sometimes he makes theme buckets like 'farm' or 'zoo'.

Sorry I can't remember his name but it is worth looking up Duplo on eBay as you could get a massive amount for very little money then maybe buy a small theme set that reflect what your daughter is interested in.

Tag Junior is brilliant, it has been played with everyday. One thing to watch is the storage on it, it will only fit about five books any more than that you have to constantly plug it in to the computer to swap them over.

We have also found having a case for it is a must, there is a little house shaped one which holds the five books and the Tag so everything is kept together.

Sorry you missed out on the penguins, hopefully they will get some more stock in.

My DD will be 2yo by Christmas. We've ordered a FP Home for the Holidays dollhouse for her, as she loves playing with these sort of toys. I'm unsure what else at the moment, her Birthday is in October so I have to wait and see what presents she gets then before buying anything else.

Just googled the Fisher Price home for the holidays house, it looks amazing. That would be just perfect.

Think I will look into some Duplo and a Playmobil farm/zoo with plenty of animals.

YY star this is The Christmas Thread so we will all feel free to discuss Christmas.

(I said the same last year. I don't go onto the Chicken Keepers thread and say "But I hate chickens....waaaaaaahh" )

My DC will be 14 and 11.6.
They will get nice pants and an orange (each, I'm not Scrooge)

Probably money or Gift Vouchers . DS got a £50 note that he kept till May then I put it in his bank account.

DD will get Claires/ Primark gift vouchers (clothes and girlie things are her passion)

My dd will be 5 at Christmas, and ds will be almost 2. I was planning the leapfrog reader thing for dd, and some rollerskates. She is already asking for a VIP pet and a pair of pop up slippers!

For ds I was thinking of a tractor/car for the garden. He loves animals so was thinking of getting a fur real puppy as a real puppy is out of the question!

DD1 will be 3 and we're getting her two Sylvanian families houses, some furniture, a couple of families & a car. A Sofia The First costume, jewellery, tiara and shoes. Some Sofia pjs, puzzle & the little set of figures from the Disney store. A plush Mr Smee, Micheal, John & Wendy from Peter Pan (she's obsessed with them and this will complete her set - except for Nana! Can't find a nana anywhere!) I was going to get her a leap pad but I've been told that if she already plays with an iPad (mine, not hers!) then it will just be a step down. Other than that I'm looking for inspiration on this thread Wink

And my DD2 will be 6 months exactly on Christmas Day so probably just have a trip to the toys r us baby aisle and fill the trolley with anything 6 months plus that she hasn't already inherited from DD1!

starjules I've had to order it new from a seller on ebay. Cost once converted from USD is around £195. I'm expecting a VAT receipt when it comes into the country on top of that. It's a bit pricey, but it's by far the best looking dolls house I've found and being Fisher Price I know it'll be durable/played with.

so far I've ordered a Caillou dress up doll for my DD (2.5) from Amazon, i have in my save for later list - princess dress up peg puzzle (melissa and doug), a duplo set - creative cakes, an angelina ballerina christmas dvd (nutcracker sweet) and a big peppa pig cuddly toy.

For my DS (5 in aug) nothing yet, he starts school this year so I'm going to just wait and see what he asks for, got his birthday to get for first!

DD1 will squeal VERY loudly when she opens her ticket to go and watch Russell Howard live.

DD2 has decided that she wants a real live lamb, or she will stop believing in Father Christmas.

frisson I remember it, it's all for me really. It makes me happy and it doesn't do any harm. Plus dd1 would think it odd if dd2 didn't get anything.
